It seems that a new AEW faction name was possibly revealed on AEW Collision by a member of the commentary team in tonight’s main event.
During the main event of AEW Collision, the trio of Adam Copeland, Darby Allin and Sting took on the Righteous and Lance Archer ahead of their big Full Gear match.
While the Sting trio will team together at Full Gear, they will face Christian Cage, Nick Wayne and Luchasaurus with Nigel McGuinness granting Cage’s trio a new nickname.
Numerous times on commentary, the group was referred to as ‘The Patriarchy’.
While it could just be an ad-lib added by McGuinness, it was notable that it was done multiple times and with emphasis.
Copeland, Sting and Allin did beat Archer and the Righteous on tonight’s show.
Since tonight’s Collision was pre-taped last night after a live AEW Rampage (November 10), there was time to remove the bits if they were spoilers so perhaps foreshadowing.
Elsewhere on tonight’s episode of Collision, Tony Khan described the ‘AEW Continental Classic’ that would be kicking off on November 22 in Chicago for Dynamite.
The round-robin tournament will feature “12 of AEW’s top stars”, including the first announced participant who was also revealed.
Somewhat surprisingly, it was revealed the Bryan Danielson would be competing in the AEW Continental Classic.
You can click here to read more about that including when the new tournament is set to conclude.
