An update has emerged on WWE’s big plans for Dragon Lee, following his recent appearances on SmackDown.
With WWE presenting Dragon Lee as a star after announcing his signing in December 2022, the luchador is now making a name for himself on the blue brand.
Lee got a major opportunity to show off his skills on the November 16 episode, during which he defeated NXT’s Axiom in a special showcase match.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that WWE has plans for a program which will see Rey Mysterio endorse Dragon Lee as a future star.
Meltzer noted:
“Dragon Lee’s in a program that’s coming up that’s designed for him to become….essentially something with Rey.
“Well, not against not against Rey. The idea is for Rey to endorse this guy as the future.”
Rey Mysterio is currently out of action, and is set to be out of action for six to eight weeks following an operation he had following his beatdown angle with Santos Escobar.
Axiom has now reacted to his WWE SmackDown main roster debut, which you can read more about right here.
Dragon Lee has also recently picked up a brace of wins over Cedric Alexander.
