A WWE star with a new gimmick from NXT has teased a big match potentially challenging Logan Paul for the United States Championship.
On last night’s episode of WWE SmackDown, Logan Paul announced that there would be a new eight-man tournament to determine who would face him for a shot at his United States title.
According to the graphic shown on screen and Paul himself, the field consisted of Kevin Owens, Santos Escobar, Dragon Lee, Karrion Kross, Grayson Waller, Austin Theory, Bobby Lashley and “an NXT Superstar, could be anyone”.
With Joe Gacy recently appearing on NXT with a new gimmick and this past week having been in hiding under the ring until he popped out to steal the ring bell during a match between Arianna Grace and Karmen Petrovic, he had an intriguing reply.
Posting on Twitter, Gacy shared the clip of Paul announcing the tournament and wrote:
“Who knows I might already be there right now”
Joe Gacy’s former faction Schism appears permanently disbanded as the Dyad (aka the Grizzled Young Veterans) have left WWE and returned to the independent wrestling circuit.
The female member of the group, Ava, has returned to NXT television as seen in backstage interactions in the women’s locker room, however has yet to make an in-ring appearance on tv since the group was dissolved.
She had been featured in an interesting backstage tease with Paul Heyman during his recent appearance on the brand which you can read more about by clicking this link.
