A former AEW name has reflected on being abruptly removed from television and as the manager of a popular act.
Speaking on an appearance on Wrestling Shoot Interviews, WWE Hall of Famer Tully Blanchard discussed his time in AEW managing former two-time AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler).
Blanchard fulfilled the role for just over a year and a half, aligning with Dax & Cash in August 2020 up until he was abruptly fired by the team in March 2022; before finishing up with the company later that year.
In the interview Blanchard revealed why he felt this decision was made, saying:
“Obviously somebody didn’t like what I was doing, or lack of what I was doing.”
While Blanchard isn’t 100% sure on the exact reasoning, he did have glowing praise for FTR, although would stop short in naming them the best tag team of all-time.
Blanchard continued:
“They are probably the best tag team right now, I would have a hard time saying best tag team of all time since Arn (Anderson) and I are already in that position (laughs).
“They work very well together and do a lot of good stuff in the ring.”
FTR have recently found themselves out of the hunt to win back their tag titles, however, with the unfortunate news of Kenny Omega’s indefinite absence from action, perhaps there could be a way back in the title picture soon.
Omega and Chris Jericho were set to challenge Ricky Starks and Big Bill for the AEW Tag Team Championships at Worlds End on December 30, however, that looks to not be happening now.
