NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion Giulia has addressed reports about WWE being interested in signing her.
Ahead of the international star’s contract with STARDOM expiring in March 2024, reports have indicated that WWE has a lot of interest in Giulia.
With previous reports indicating that a WWE offer is on the table for the current NJPW champion, it was recently reported that she will ‘likely’ join WWE in 2024.
In an interview shared by Tokyo Sports, Giulia addressed reports about WWE’s interest, noting that for the time being, she still has things to do in Japan:
This is the first time I’ve been asked this directly in an interview (reports of WWE having interest in her). What can I say… Giulia has grown up (laughs). But, I still have things to do in Japan.
On the possibility of being based overseas in the future, Giulia said:
You’re going right into it (laughs). Do you know what my main purpose in continuing to wrestle is? It’s to make women’s wrestling in Japan a more accessible form of entertainment.
I want more children to watch it, young people and women to watch it. I think all the wrestlers are doing just that.
I sometimes think that going abroad might be one way to achieve that goal… If you are going to do it, you have to do it right. If that happens, I think it will be a big decision.
Giulia most recently defended the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship against Megan Bayne at Friday’s (December 29) STARDOM Dream Queendom event.
