An update has emerged on a current WWE champion’s status, with the star’s contract reportedly set to expire soon.
Fightful Select has now confirmed that WWE Tag Team Champion Finn Balor’s contract is set to expire this year.
The report noted that Balor’s contract isn’t up “immediately after WrestleMania” in April as was previously rumored, but indicated that his contract will expire “within a few months” of WrestleMania 40.
Previous rumors had noted that Balor hasn’t been approached by WWE about renewing his deal.
Fightful stated that this has been the case for numerous wrestlers in WWE whose contracts are up.
Balor currently holds the WWE Tag Team Championship alongside his Judgment Day factionmate Damian Priest.
This is the Irish star’s second reign with the gold, with Balor’s first tag title win in September 2023 making him a WWE Grand Slam winner.
In WWE, Balor has held the NXT, US, Intercontinental, Universal and Tag Team titles.
The decorated star signed with WWE in May 2014 following his stint in NJPW where he formed the BULLET CLUB faction.
An update has emerged on a major NJPW star’s future following the announcement that he’s going to leave NJPW when his contract expires at the end of the month.
