The Rock’s WWE creative writer has reacted to his WWE return and last week’s controversial SmackDown closing segment.
The Rock mad his return to WWE television in the closing segment of last week’s SmackDown show in Birmingham, Alabama, where he confronted Roman Reigns.
The segment has been heavily criticised for Rock taking Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania moment away from him after he won his second straight Royal Rumble match.
Following the show, it was reported that The Rock’s involvement in the WrestleMania main event came from Dwayne Johnson himself, as he was elected to the TKO board the previous week.
Johnson will reportedly have a lot of say in the future of the company, with former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz set to be the representative for him during creative meetings.
Gewirtz took to Twitter last night, where he shared footage of the show from the arena of Rock’s return, along with the caption:
You all have no idea… #WrestleMania
In the days following the segment, fans have rallied behind Cody, with #WeWantCody trending ever since the segment.
The Rock and Roman Reigns are both set for the WrestleMania Kickoff press event in Las Vegas on Thursday.
