A former WWE star won a TNA Wrestling championship tonight at No Surrender after appearing in independent promotions worldwide.
Mustafa Ali not only made an appearance at the TNA Wrestling No Surrender pay-per-view, he is leaving tonight with championship gold.
Ali beat now-former X-Division Champion Chris Sabin to become the new TNA Wrestling X-Division Champion.
The reign was Sabin’s 10th as X-Division champ, lasting 167 days.
After being released from WWE in September 2023, Mustafa Ali began making his mark in independent wrestling promotions the world over before making his debut for TNA Wrestling.
Reacting to the win on Twitter, Ali wrote:
“we did it. #AndNew
“@ThisIsTNA”
Fellow ex-WWE stars who were released the same time as Ali – Nic Nemeth (Dolph Ziggler) and Matt Riddle – also both won singles championships in NJPW less than 24 hours before Ali’s X-Division title win.
