WWE/AEW
Former WWE star Carmella has teased a comeback to the ring in reaction to B3CCA using her Code of Silence finishing move on the April 25 episode of AEW Collision.
It has been over three years now since fans have seen Carmella compete inside a wrestling ring, with the former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion’s having two children with Corey Graves in that time, as well as dealing with drop foot following her first pregnancy.
Carmella’s time in WWE would eventually come to an end in February 2025 when it was announced that she had departed the company at the end of her contract, however, “The Princess of Staten Island” has refused to close the door on a return to the ring since then.
While it’s unclear where or when Carmella may make her return, she has dropped a big hint that she’s considering doing so after seeing independent wrestler B3CCA use her finisher and wear a similar attire to Carmella on this past Saturday’s AEW Collision.
A fan on Twitter shared footage of B3CCA using the Code of Silence submission move and tagged Carmella, which led to the former WWE star responding with:
hmmm.. there’s a difference between homage and theft…
I didn’t retire, I had two babies… might have to come back and show these bitches how it’s really done🤑
Where Could Carmella Land If She Makes In-Ring Return?
Despite Carmella’s ire being drawn by her finisher being used on AEW TV, few fans would expect her return to wrestling to come in Tony Khan’s company.
With AEW’s fans typically expecting wrestlers who are known for their in-ring prowess to step through the company’s doors, AEW signing Carmella would likely be a decision questioned by many.
However, AEW did sign two former WWE stars this year that are somewhat comparable to Carmella: The IInspiration (Cassie Lee & Jessica McKay).
Lee and McKay, like Carmella are proficient in the ring but more known for their entertaining character work, making them not the most prototypical AEW signings.
With AEW investing in its new women’s tag team division, The IInspiration is an acquisition that made a lot of sense, where as Carmella would likely be questioned more by fans.
With AEW an unlikely landing spot, Carmella’s perhaps more likely destinations would be a WWE return or, even more so, a move to TNA Wrestling.
TNA has welcomed many former WWE stars in recent years, such as Ash By Elegance, Lei Ying Lee, Elayna Black and Mara Sadé, and Carmella seems like a natural fit for the Knockout’s roster.
TNA’s working relationship with WWE could also potentially allow for Carmella to make a return to her former home, without being signed to a full-time contract.
We will continue to provide updates on Carmella’s future in pro wrestling as/when more news becomes available.
