WWE Personnel ‘Questioning The Point’ Of LFG Show After Tyra Mae Steele Release WWE

People in WWE are reportedly “questioning the point” of LFG (Legends & Future Greats) following the release of Tyra Mae Steele.

Steele was among the 24 WWE talents to have been released this past Friday – the full list of which can be found at this link.

In May 2025, Tyra Mae Steele – Olympic gold medalist Tamyra Mensah-Stock – was crowned the women’s winner of WWE LFG season one, seemingly cementing her as a future star in NXT.

The gimmick of LFG is that the winners earn an NXT contract – of course in reality, all contestants already have NXT contracts, but the idea is that the winners will be featured prominently on NXT TV coming out of it.

That was briefly the case for Steele, but after a short run including a match teaming with Tavion Heights against Chelsea Green and Ethan Page at Heatwave, she found herself off NXT TV and on Evolve instead.

Now she’s been released entirely, Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer reports that people in WWE, specifically in NXT are questioning what the point of LFG is if the winner got released under a year after winning it.

Evaluating The WWE LFG Winners So Far

With WWE LFG season three kicking off on A&E tonight, there have been four winners thus far – one each for the men and women for the two seasons.

Season one’s winners were the aforementioned Tyra Mae Steele, as well as Jasper Troy, who went on to become WWE Speed Champion shortly after and has been on NXT TV pretty consistently, though not in a top position.

Season two in September saw Skylar Raye (Dani Sekelsky) and Shiloh Hill crowned the winners, with Raye only featuring in small doses since her win, while Hill looks to be becoming one of the top stars in the men’s division to fill the vacancies left by all the recent main roster call-ups with Oba Femi, Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans, Ethan Page, Joe Hendry and Ricky Saints now all on Raw and SmackDown.

It’s intriguing that, in general, the NXT women’s division has been stronger than the men’s for some quite time now, but the men’s LFG winners have been a lot more successful than the women’s winners so far.
