IYO SKY has commented on Kairi Sane’s WWE release that was announced yesterday as part of the company’s talent cuts.
The latest round of WWE talent cuts took place on April 24, with 24 confirmed names being released from the company.
Perhaps the most surprising name among those released from the company was Kairi Sane, who has been an active part of a storyline with IYO SKY and Asuka on Monday Night Raw for the past six months.
There has been an outpouring of support from both fans and wrestlers alike for Kairi since the news broke, and IYO SKY has now commented on Kairi’s departure.
IYO SKY Comments On Kairi Sane’s WWE Release
Taking to social media, IYO shared a post for Kairi, showing her support for her best friend following her release.
She wrote:
I understand that everyone, as an athlete, eventually faces a turning point when thinking about their life and career, but I feel so heartbroken that it came at such an unexpected time
Kairi was truly loved by all her colleagues, not just as a performer but as a person.
She was kinder than anyone, a little airheaded in the most endearing way, funny, charming, and my proud best friend. A comrade-in-arms who faced countless hardships in America, shed so many tears, and grew together with me. It’s so hard to accept that Kairi won’t be in the passenger seat of the rental car anymore, but…
I’m absolutely certain that with her innate talent and the incredible knowledge and experience she’s gained in WWE, Kairi’s new journey will be something truly amazing.
From the bottom of my heart, I wish for my beloved Kairi’s success and happiness. I love you so much Kairi.
We’ll be best friends forever and always @KAIRI_official

Kairi Sane’s Next Move Following WWE Departure
With Kairi subject to her 90 day non-compete clause, there has been speculation on where she may end up once she is free to return to the ring outside the company.
While AEW is the natural first landing point that comes to fans’ mind, AEW themselves already have a stacked women’s roster fighting for television time, so it may not be the right moment to bring in more names to overcrowd the division.
Should Kairi return to Japan, the most obvious choice would be Rossy Ogawa’s Marigold promotion, which is where IYO SKY had previously competed in two matches in recent years, and is home to Kairi’s former partner Mayu Iwatani, on top of looking for a new top star after Utami Hayashishita announced she would be leaving the promotion.
Alternatively, Kairi could follow in the footsteps of fellow former WWE star Sareee and freelance all across Japan, should she continue wrestling.
