The parallels between Big E and Cody exist if you look closely enough. Cody never could rise to the position in WWE that he envisioned always holding. Though he desperately wanted it, he left before he could get there.

Big E worked tirelessly to sit atop the throne he should have owned years ago. They both struggled/struggle to balance aspects of their characters in an effort to be taken more seriously. Whether by the fans, management, their peers, or themselves – right or wrong – they have had to work excessively hard to stand where they do.

The two friends could all too easily draw from their shared experiences and produce a story for the ages if given the chance. Slipping between comedy and consequence, it could very easily be Mania magic.
