7 Best Non-Elimination Chamber Matches At Elimination Chamber

5. CM Punk vs The Rock (Elimination Chamber 2013)

CM Punk’s 434 day reign as WWE Champion had come to an end just three weeks prior, with the Rock taking Punk’s championship with a People’s Elbow in rather polarising fashion.

For Punk’s loyal fans, there was one hope left. One more chance for him to make it to the main event of WrestleMania, and just like with Dean Ambrose last entry, they were going to believe.

The People’s Champion was only 50% of the people’s champion that night, as at least half of the audience were rooting for the Chicago man to regain his championship.

The match had an additional little wrinkle, that being that if The Rock got disqualified or counted out, he would lose the championship to Punk. This added just a little bit more doubt as to whether or not the Great One would get it done.

Two legends of the business duking it out in the main event of a pay-per-view for the top prize in the company while the fans ate out of the palms of their hands, Punk’s defeat that night was thought to be his last shot at WrestleMania.

Punk would go on to have the classic Raw match with John Cena the following month, which was his actual final shot at Mania, but the fans that night being split and hanging on to every nearfall makes for a compelling watch, even to this day.
