WWE Backlash 2026 is now in the books, with the Tampa show marking the first premium live event after WrestleMania 42.

Now that this PLE is in the rearview mirror, it could lead to some significant changes to Monday Night Raw moving forward.

Here are seven potential changes to WWE Raw after Backlash 2026.

7. Ethan Page Becomes #1 Contender For Penta’s WWE Intercontinental Championship

On the April 20 WWE Raw After WrestleMania 42, Ethan Page made his main roster debut and became an official member of the red brand.

Since then, “All Ego” has picked up wins over Je’Von Evans in singles competition and pinned Intercontinental Champion Penta in tag team action.

With this most recent victory, Page has staked his claim for an opportunity at the IC Title.

Now that WWE Backlash 2026 is over, it might be time for Ethan Page to earn himself the number one contendership to get a shot at Penta’s gold on Monday Night Raw.

6. Sol Ruca & IYO SKY Compete For Next shot At Becky Lynch’s WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship

On the May 4 episode of Monday Night Raw, Sol Ruca was just trying to sign her contract with the red brand, but Becky Lynch interrupted to steal the spotlight from the former NXT Women’s North American Champion.

However, Lynch instead punched Raw GM Adam Pearce in the face and got caught with the Sol Snatcher from Ruca.

Meanwhile, IYO SKY defeated Asuka in singles action at the WWE Backlash 2026 premium live event.

This could lead to both Ruca and SKY being in contention to get the next shot at Lynch’s WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship, setting the stage for a number one contender’s match sometime soon.

5. Stars Start To Position Themselves For John Cena Classic

At WWE Backlash 2026, John Cena made an appearance to announce the John Cena Classic tournament and championship.

This tournament will feature WWE main roster and NXT talent competing against one another to impress the fans.

Following this announcement, fans should see certain stars positioning themselves for the opportunity in the John Cena Classic.

Whether it be main roster talents campaigning for their spot or WWE Raw featuring more NXT names than usual, these stars will all be looking to earn their opportunity in the upcoming John Cena Classic starting on the May 11 Raw.

4. Asuka Begins To Finish Up Her Time As In-Ring Performer

Coming out of WWE Backlash 2026, Asuka became the biggest news story thanks to rumors circulating regarding her future in the company.

At the event, IYO SKY defeated Asuka in singles action. Post match, Asuka got emotional and hugged IYO with tears in her eyes.

This led to WWE stars posting photos of Asuka in tribute to “The Empress of Tomorrow.” Later, it was reported that Asuka was “semi-retired” or might be taking some time away from the promotion.

With her future somewhat in question, fans could be seeing the final days of Asuka in a WWE ring moving forward on Monday Night Raw.

3. Seth Rollins Joins Forces With Street Profits & Joe Hendry Against The Vision

Over the past few weeks, Seth Rollins has found himself trying to get his pound of flesh in seeking revenge on The Vision for betraying him.

This mission of vengeance on The Vision has seen Rollins also at odds with other rivals of the group like Street Profits and Joe Hendry.

At WWE Backlash 2026, Bron Breakker defeated Seth Rollins in their first ever singles meeting thanks in large part due to the numbers advantage with The Vision.

Rollins aligning himself with Hendry and the Profits in their six-man tag team match against The Vision could be the first step to finally taking down Paul Heyman’s faction on WWE Raw.

2. Bron Breakker Wants Shot At World Heavyweight Championship

Speaking of WWE Backlash 2026, Bron Breakker scored the biggest win of his young career with his victory over Seth Rollins.

After taking down the former six-time WWE World Champion, the next step for Breakker should be getting a shot at the top prize on Monday Night Raw.

Breakker should have his focus on finally winning the World Heavyweight Championship after getting by Rollins.

Over the past year, Breakker has physically dominated Roman Reigns on several occasions and should lead to a highly anticipated World Heavyweight Championship showdown in the near future.

1. Jacob Fatu Must Acknowledge Roman Reigns As His “Tribal Chief”

At the WWE Backlash 2026 premium live event, Roman Reigns defeated Jacob Fatu to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.

Post match, “The Samoan Werewolf” snapped and viciously attacked “The OTC” until almost a dozen officials and referees came out to stop this beatdown.

This led to Reigns saying that it would be Fatu’s last night in WWE, but then Adam Pearce announced that Roman has announced an acknowledgement ceremony with Fatu on the May 11 Monday Night Raw.

Fatu being forced to acknowledge Reigns after his loss at Backlash should lead to a tense segment that will further progress this ongoing feud on WWE Raw right now.
