WWE star Danhausen has called out former World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk for taking back his finishing move, which he had given Danhausen his blessing to use amid his wrestling hiatus.

CM Punk arguably has one of the most iconic finishers in WWE today, being the star to popularise the GTS in WWE.

In an interview on WWE Now Backlash Recap, Danhausen was telling one of his usual fun stories about him stealing Punk’s mail, before making some interesting comments about Punk’s finishing move.

Stating that he can’t use the move in WWE himself, Danhausen said:

“He owes me, he stole my finishing move, I can’t do it here.

“He was retired, and I said ‘Hey, I’ve been doing this.’ He says, ‘It’s yours.’ Then he came out of retirement like three months later and took it back.”

Danhausen previously used a variation of the GTS, which he called the “Very Nice, Very Kneevil”.

Following him using the move at the ROH 19th Anniversary Show in March 2021, both CM Punk and KENTA – who many consider to be the originator of the move – gave Danhausen their blessings to keep using the Very Nice, Very Kneevil.

As referenced by Danhausen, CM Punk return to wrestling in August 2021 in AEW, ahead of making his WWE return in November 2023.

Following Punk joining AEW, Danhausen shared a fun skit in December 2021 of Punk paying him royalties, as the “inventor” of the move.

In wrestling, there isn’t really one owner of any specific move. Even with the GTS, which KENTA initially popularised in Japan, Punk went on to become the star who many US-based fans associate the move with.

Danhausen appears to be using a big boot as a finisher, which he used to win his and “Minihausen”s tag-team match against The Miz and Kit Wilson at Backlash on May 9.

With Minihausen being revealed as Danhausen’s mystery partner, Danhausen has now shared his thoughts on the reaction to this reveal, following recent speculation.
