Danhausen has commented on his tag-team match at WWE Backlash, addressing the rumors surrounding his mystery partner.

With Danhausen announced to be teaming with a mystery partner against The Miz and Kit Wilson at Backlash, there was a lot of speculation about who the Very Nice, Very Evil star would join forces with.

The mystery partner was ultimately revealed to be a clone of Danhausen referred to as Minihausen by WWE, with the character played by AAA star Mascarita Sagrada, fka El Torito in WWE.

During an interview on WWE Now Backlash Recap, Sam Roberts asked Danhausen how he felt when Minihausen was first revealed to be his mystery partner, following all of the speculation.

Commenting on the rumors, Danhausen responded:

“Here’s the thing, people go ‘Oh, it’s confirmed it’s Cola-Man Punk, it’s confirmed it’s Oba Femi.’ They’re great, however, who said that? Who put that responsibility on me? I didn’t even want to find one (tag-team partner), why would I ask them?

“‘It’s Jelly Roll, it’s Cola-Man Punk, it’s Oba,’ I saw these were confirmed stories, by the way. All three within a week, all confirmed. I should’ve had all of them.

Announcing matches with mystery opponents or tag-team partners is always a risky move, both because the secret could be spoiled ahead of time, and because fans could be underwhelmed by the reveal following weeks of fantasy booking and speculation.

The reveal of Minihausen wasn’t as iconic as a returning Cody Rhodes being revealed as Seth Rollins’ surprise opponent at WrestleMania 38, but it didn’t have to be, given the difference in calibre between the two matches.

Even if we didn’t get a crazy debut, the Minihausen reveal fit Danhausen’s character. How you personally feel about this character once he’s in between the ropes is another question.

Even just listening to reactions at Backlash, however, proves that Danhausen is already a fan-favorite character.
