Building The Perfect WWE Roster (Men)

RAW

Singles

  • Aleister Black – Very strong character who can deliver a good promo and is excellent in the ring. Could carry the workrate end of Raw and is a potential top guy.
  • AJ Styles – Was the face of SmackDown for years and was due a brand move. Can become the face of Raw.
  • Baron Corbin – Has tanked Raw ratings as a headliner and needs to drop to the midcard. Would have a less detrimental effect on SmackDown numbers – which tend to decline at a lower rate – but does not fit in with the new feel of the show on FOX.
  • Braun Strowman – Can be reheated as the red brands resident monster.
  • Bray Wyatt – With Raw set to become the more “sports entertainment” show, Wyatt with his new persona should be one of its headliners.

  • Daniel Bryan – Would have been better suited to SmackDown pre-injury but the modern character-based New Daniel Bryan is a natural heel foil for the likes of Styles, Rollins and a potentially babyface Zayn.
  • Elias – All sizzle and no steak but Elias is an entertaining act. Has his place on the Raw midcard.
  • Lars Sullivan – Monster heel persona works far better in this environment than on the more athletically-based SmackDown.
  • The Miz – The epitome of a modern day sports entertainer. Should be the focus of the midcard championship, whether it be the US or IC title.
  • Kofi Kingston – Pancakes and shenanigans don’t really fit on the new SmackDown. The popular WWE Champion adds depth to a Raw ranks.

  • No Way Jose – Can be an entertaining opening-match act on house shows but needs TV time and an actual programme to make people care.
  • Randy Orton – Still carries name value but is past his prime as a character. Can be used to put over others on the way up.
  • R-Truth – Very entertaining act enjoying a new level of popularity with his 24/7 antics. He and the belt should be exclusive to Raw.
  • Robert Roode – Needs a sustained push and should be a perennial contender for the midcard title and occasionally the guy used to put over talent on their way to the top of the card. Like Rick Rude used to be.
  • Roman Reigns – Seems a better fit for Raw than SmackDown. WWE felt the same, hence their backtracking on the Superstar Shakeup decision to move him to the blue brand with the introduction of the Wild Card nonsense.

  • Rowan – Works well alongside Bryan and as a former Wyatt Family member could have interesting exchanges with Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman.
  • Sami Zayn – A solid promo and a talented in-ring performer, Zayn would benefit from a proper babyface run as an underdog, like he was in NXT once over. Could represent the 2020 generation if booked right.
  • Shinsuke Nakamura – If allowed to be the ball of charisma that he used to be in Japan and NXT and allowed to work without restrictions, he can be a much more valuable player. Move to Raw would refresh him.
  • Velveteen Dream – Charismatic Dream can be a major star in WWE. Has elements of the great Attitude Era acts about him. Would be a hit on the national stage.

Tag Teams

  • AOP – Have not yet been given their shot as a featured team on the brand.
  • The Hardy Boyz – Matt and Jeff are at the age where they should be teaming as to protect their broken down bodies. They also serve as a link to the past, which is useful for putting over fresh new acts.
  • The Forgotten Sons – Jaxson Ryker has potential to be a star player but the whole group is talented. Would refresh the tag scene and could be used as a trio.

  • Heavy Machinery – Otis is very entertaining and the clear star of the tandem but they are definitely better served as a unit for now. Would add more weight to a meaty Raw tag division.
  • New Day – The whole trio would be major players and fit the sports entertainment aspect of the brand perfectly. It would be Big E and Woods who would primarily compete in the tag division though.
  • The Usos – World class tag team were the dominant duo on SmackDown for years. Raw is the right fit for them.
