After an 18 month long absence from a WWE ring due to a serious spinal injury, The Viper Randy Orton is reportedly finally set for a return by Survivor Series 2023 on November 25.
While there have been plenty of rumors and teases of another major surprise return, CM Punk, also showing up in his native Chicago, Illinois, recent reports have seemingly dampened that expectation.
Despite that potential disappointment, Orton making what was looking like an increasingly unlikely return will more than make up for it.
But what kind of splash will the 14-time world champion be making when he first steps back through that curtain at the AllState Arena?
Here are seven fantasy booking pitches for Orton at Survivor Series 2023.
7. Surprise Final Entrant Into War Games
Starting with what is perhaps the most likely of options WWE could easily set Orton up for a massive return pop as he enters last in this year’s War Games match.
While it’s not entirely clear who will be involved just yet, many have speculated that the Judgment Day could be involved, rather than The Bloodline like the 2022 edition or even a mixture of the two big heel factions.
This would allow a clear opening for WWE to leave a spot open on team babyface for Orton to fill.
Given WWE’s recent direction, expect this team to be comprised of the likes of Sami Zayn, Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes with Kevin Owens, John Cena or maybe even LA Knight potential options if WWE go cross-branded for the match.
To set this up for an Orton return, a space could either be purposely left open on the face team or the heels could take someone out ahead of time, either way its a full-proof way to re-introduce The Viper.
