After letting several tag teams go over the Spring, WWE’s tag team divisions are in dire need of some love and attention on Raw and SmackDown.
The blue brand is seemingly heading in the right direction with the arrival of Bakusai (Shinsuke Nakamura & Kyoki), while Raw has welcomed NXT’s OTM (Bronco Nima & Lucien Price) into the mix, but more work is still needing done.
Here are three former AEW Tag Team Champions to potentially sign with WWE.
The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster)
The Acclaimed held the AEW World Tag Team Championships for 140 days back in 2022/2023.
It has recently been reported that both Max Caster and Anthony Bowens’ AEW contracts are due to be expiring in October.
It’s unclear whether AEW are in negotiations with either, or both about remaining with the company, but given how close it is to their deals coming up it’s certainly a situation to keep and eye on.
Of the two, Caster certainly seems the likeliest to go right now, solely based on his inactivity in AEW throughout 2026. Bowens on the other hand is featuring on TV, and even wrestled during the Buy In of AEW All In London on August 30.
Given their success together as The Acclaimed, WWE may have an eye on them if they become available as their tag team division could certainly use a duo as talented as Bowens and Caster on their roster.
Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen)
Back in June 2025, it was reported that the contracts of Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) were due to be expiring “very soon.”
Over a year has passed and the pair remain under AEW contract, however, they are now off TV due to injury. This setback came not long after Quen and Kassidy’s unexpected return to TV in February, which came after they spent over a year off TV for unknown reasons.
Their absences may result in their contracts being extended due to injury time, but until word comes out of them agreeing new terms in AEW, they will continue to be linked with an exit.
WWE reportedly had “preliminary interest” in Private Party back when news was spreading about their contracts last year, and it’s difficult to imagine them not being keen to add them to their roster if they do end up becoming available in the future.
FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler)
FTR and The Young Bucks are the only tag teams to have won the AEW World Tag Team Titles three times.
FTR being on this list may seem like a head scratcher given that they were just confirmed for a major AEW World Tag Team Title opportunity against the Young Bucks and Cope & Cage at All Out 2026, however, there is a reason they’re here.
Back in May it was reported that FTR were approaching their contract option year, and WWE, once again, had “preliminary interest” in re-signing them.
FTR have flirted with the idea of returning to WWE before, but the end of this contract may be their last chance to do so at this stage of their careers.
While it’s certainly difficult to imagine a team like them wanting to step away from the bustling AEW tag division in favor of WWE right now, Dax and Cash could be foundational parts of rebuilding WWE’s tag division if they did return.
