WWE
For the first time in WWE, Danhausen and GUNTHER have crossed paths, with The Ring General being less than impressed.
The August 28 episode of WWE SmackDown saw Danhausen speaking to Nick Aldis before the timely arrival of GUNTHER led to more serious business being addressed.
Danhausen was seemingly awestruck by The Ring General, although GUNTHER definitely didn’t share the share feelings, least of all due to the Very Nice, Very Evil star calling him “GOONER”.
In the WWE, anything can happen, and it’s entirely possible that Danhausen and GUNTHER will cross paths again.
GOON-hausen
During Danhausen’s time in AEW, the star formed a tag team with HOOK, with the pairing called Hookhausen.
It was a bizarre pairing that worked, with HOOK being the silent and serious partner to the much more vocal Danhausen. They may not have had the longest of runs, but they were fondly remembered by AEW fans.
The idea of a tag team of GUNTHER and Danhausen could take that concept further, particularly with The Ring General showing that he’s more than the silent aggressor over recent months.
GUNTHER Vs. Danhausen
GUNTHER may have his sights set on title opportunities, last competing in an Undisputed WWE Championship Number One Contender’s Triple Threat, but that doesn’t mean that could be his only focus.
There’s an opportunity to keep the match off television, giving the house show fans something truly different at WWE Live events, with Danhausen having competed more times on those tours than he has one screen The WWE Summer Tour has seen Danhausen face The Miz or Kit Wilson across the past couple of months, building on a feud their television feud.
For GUNTHER, such a program would need to be built in such a way that it doesn’t undermine who he is as a dominant star, yet allows him to add layers to his character.
Building To A New Feud
Hookhausen didn’t just happen. HOOK proved to be immune to Danhausen curses, with a bag of potato chips eventually bringing them together.
Let’s assume, for one moment, that WWE creative don’t rush into GOON-hausen with the enthusiasm it clearly deserves. That doesn’t mean that they don’t tease it through backstage segments.
Weeks of Danhausen attempting to make friends with GUNTHER can end with another star attacking the Very Nice, Very Evil one in sheer frustration, with The Ring General taking exception to that moment and unleashing vengeance in the ring.
GUNTHER and Danhausen don’t have to walk off into the sunset as friends, but a mutual understanding could be born from all this.
With Danhausen convinced that Logan Paul owes him a good six figures in human monies, perhaps there’s a direction for the currently injured star upon his return.
It Doesn’t Have To Be This Way
It’s occasionally easy to see some WWE stars and only envision them in serious feuds, yet many have shown their skill at the more lighthearted side of storytelling. Roman Reigns in The Bloodline hasn’t all been Tribal Combat and being the Head of the Table, with Sami Zayn previously breaking much of the tension (and the stars himself) as an ‘Honorary Uce’. Over in Judgment Day, R-Truth being convinced that he’s a member has reaped rewards years after Damian Priest departed the faction, with the pair being former WWE Tag Team Champions.
Whether GUNTHER needs a foil in the form of Danhausen remains to be seen, but there’s a lot of mileage in the humor and character work that could come from it.
