A WWE champion has revealed that they are ‘serious’ about a particular match stipulation that they have pitched.
WrestleMania 41 and 42 both took place in Las Vegas, with Chelsea Green revealing that she had pitched a hair vs. hair match against a WWE Hall of Famer.
It’s a pitch that Green is serious about, although there doesn’t appear to have been any headway made when it comes to facing Nikki Bella with hair on the line.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Green confirmed that she had, indeed, pitched the match for both shows and seems eager to deliver on the idea, saying:
“I’m so serious that I pitched it for both WrestleManias in Vegas versus Nikki Bella. I’ll lose. I’ll shave my head.”
When it comes to how Green would look without hair, she would reveal her real-life husband and fellow WWE star Matt Cardona isn’t against the idea, explaining:
“I have a huge forehead. I would look like a peanut, but my husband loves me, and he also was like, ‘Yeah, do it, whatever. That’d be so cool.’ He’s such a student of the game. He would love it. He would love knowing that I did something that would be history-making, right?”
Green would indicate that such a match might not happen while she holds the Interim WWE Women’s Championship, looking back her Women’s United States Championship run as the perfect opportunity to make hair vs. hair mean something, revealing:
“Now I’m the WWE Women’s Champion, I’m not shaving my head. No, I’m kidding. I think I would, but I so badly wanted to make the U.S. title something special. I don’t know that I was able to do that in my two reigns, but I think had I been able to have that feud with Nikki and shave my head, I think it would have cemented the U.S. title as something that wasn’t underneath this title, and that’s what I was trying to do.”
Chelsea Green became Interim WWE Women’s Champion at SummerSlam, with Rhea Ripley having vacated the title due to injury earlier this year.
The August 7 episode of WWE SmackDown saw Green suffer a broken orbital bone, throwing her reign into doubt. She would return to the ring later that month on a pre-taped episode of SmackDown.
The New Queen Of WWE?
Charlotte Flair may be The Queen in WWE, but there are members of the women’s roster who could very much step into that role.
Chelsea Green is one such star, with her return to WWE in 2023 seeing Green go on to receive ample fan support, whether she’s being adored or abhorred. Her ability to play into her character has seen Matt Cardona praise her for her ability to “maximize her minutes” on screen, something she did to great effect while wheelchair bound.
A two-time WWE Women’s United States Champion, Green has also held the Women’s Tag Team Championship with Sonya Deville and then Piper Niven, the latter star deciding she was a member of the team. That would continue until Niven herself had to take a leave of absence due to injury and very much could be picked up at a later date.
In the meantime, Green as Interim WWE Women’s Champion is a testament to the quality of the star and her ability to royally command the screen with every appearance.
