Former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Piper Niven has shared an update on her injury and recovery, after over a year away from the ring.

We recently passed the 12-month mark of Piper Niven’s in-ring absence, with the SmackDown star last wrestling in August 2025.

Niven has been dealing with major neck issues since, to the point that there has been some uncertainty about her even returning to the ring.

Piper Niven returned to Instagram to share an update 12 weeks on from her neck surgery, during which she stated that everything was described as “healing beautifully.”

Addressing her recovery, and social media absence, she wrote:

I logged into a tonne of messages of love and concern and I wanted to say thank you so much 🥹💖 I am probably not gonna get back to anyone before I Irish goodbye back out of social media please don’t hate me 🤣 but thank you all for giving a hoot 🥰

Imma go back to living my geriatric Florida bam life 😘 Maybe be back on in a bit or maybe disappear off the face of the earth who knows 🤷‍♀️

I heard no one even does posts anymore so maybe no one will see this? Who am I even talking to? Ok love you bye 👋

The August 22, 2025 edition of SmackDown played host to Piper Niven’s most recent match, with the star defeating Charlotte Flair in singles action following interference from her Secret Hervice teammates Alba Fyre and Chelsea Green.

A lot has changed during Niven’s absence, with even the dynamic of her former group drastically altered. The Secret Hervice currently doesn’t exist, with Alba Fyre departing the company earlier this year.

Fyre aka Kay Lee Ray clarified in June that she was not released and that her contract with WWE expired, with Fyre having the decision of whether she wanted to stay or not.

Chelsea Green is currently representing SmackDown as its top active women’s champion, after winning the interim WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam.

In February, Piper Niven stated that “of course” she wants to come back and hopes that she can eventually return to the ring, but noted at that time that she didn’t know what was in store for her future.

We continue to wish Piper Niven a safe and healthy recovery.
