The Interim WWE Women’s Champion with Rhea Ripley out injured has been crowned at SummerSlam 2026 night two tonight.

Ripley suffered a knee injury during a WWE live event in June, which has ruled her out of action since then including through SummerSlam, where she was obviously planned to defend her title.

Instead, WWE has opted to crown an Interim WWE Women’s Champion with a five-woman ladder match tonight between Charlotte Flair, Tiffany Stratton, Jade Cargill, Chelsea Green and Lash Legend.

After pushing Stratton off a ladder and onto everyone else on the outside, it looked like it would be Green to climb up and grab the title, but Cargill’s backup B-Fab and Michin came out and prevented her from doing so.

They then helped Cargill herself get up the ladder, but by that time, Flair had recovered and she took them out.

With Flair and Cargill both up and going for the title, Green was still dangling from the ladder as well, and once Flair and Cargill fell, Green recovered and climbed up, pulled down the title, and became the Interim WWE Women’s Champion.

Unless she loses the title before Ripley comes back, this likely means Green will soon face Ripley to determine the ‘real’ champion.

WWE Women’s Division Directionless Without Rhea Ripley

WWE has massively dropped the ball with its women’s division in recent months, and the absence of Rhea Ripley highlights that point even more.

Fatal Influence did win last night but Jacy Jayne’s momentum has stalled, as have the likes of Jordynne Grace, Blake Monroe and especially Giulia.

That all resulted in a pretty uninspiring ladder match lineup for tonight and and even worse picture on the Raw side with Liv Morgan and IYO SKY’s build being centered around the Danhausen vs Dominik Mysterio shenanigans.

Hopefully WWE will get its act together when Ripley is back, but the company really shouldn’t just give up on the division like this because of one person being out, even if she is the biggest star.
