Over the past few years, there have been various former WWE stars who have gone on to re-sign with the company.

Whether it be a former WWE World Champion or holding a title on the main roster and in NXT, there are a few notable free agents who could try to outdo their previous stint in the company by re-signing in the future.

Trying to bolster the roster in a significant way, WWE could fill some gaps or holes with some additions to the company in the coming weeks and months.

Here are six former WWE champions to potentially re-sign with the company.

6. Enzo Amore

Following WrestleMania 42, reports started to circulate that Enzo Amore was in talks with WWE to potentially make a return to the company.

Then, it was revealed that Amore had been seen at the WWE Performance Center ahead of an NXT TV taping.

During his first run with the promotion, Amore was a WWE Cruiserweight Champion and among the best talkers at that time.

Amore could re-sign with WWE and immediately make a huge impact by reuniting with his former tag team partner and best friend Big Cass upon his return.

5. Eric Young

In the past decade, Eric Young has jumped back and forth between WWE and TNA Wrestling.

At the beginning of July 2026, it was revealed that Young had requested and received his release from TNA.

There has apparently been some interest in EY from WWE despite his age and past stints with the company.

Whether it be as a player/coach in NXT or a run on the main roster under Triple H this time, there is a good chance that this might finally be the run Eric Young can get something out of with WWE.

4. Dakota Kai (Charlie)

Dakota Kai never held a singles title in WWE

In May 2025, there was no WWE release that shocked fans more than Dakota Kai.

After spending eight years with the company, Kai was widely regarded as one of the most underrated in-ring performers in the entire WWE women’s division.

Since leaving WWE, Kai has become Charlie and started performing on the independent scene.

Now that she has shown to have no ring rust, it might be the right time for WWE to call upon Dakota Kai to make her return to fill some gaps in the women’s scene due to injuries and various departures or hiatuses.

3. Carmella

Another former WWE star who could help to add further depth to the women’s division is Carmella.

In 2025, Carmella left WWE due to her contract expiring and made her a free agent.

Since leaving the company, the former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion has remained away from the wrestling business and focused on life as a mother.

With her husband Corey Graves still working with the promotion, it would sense if Mella one day returned to WWE and mixed it up with a new generation of female talent.

2. Baron Corbin

Over the past few months, Baron Corbin has become a name constantly mentioned as a potential signing for WWE.

During his first run with the company, Corbin was a prominently featured talent, a former WWE United States Champion, as well as a King of the Ring and Money In The Bank winner.

With his list of accomplishments in that 12-year stint, it makes sense that WWE would want to bring Corbin back into the fold.

After making a name for himself as Bishop Dyer in MLW and on the indies, Corbin seems ready to send shockwaves through WWE upon making his return to the company.

1. Braun Strowman

In May 2025, Braun Strowman was among the biggest names to be released from WWE during its round of talent cuts.

The former WWE Universal Champion was considered one of the most reliable big men on the roster.

Considering he has remained away from pro wrestling since his release, Strowman may be waiting to get that call to make another return to the place he considers home.

Strowman re-signing with WWE would open the door for some revisiting of rivalries with the likes of Jacob Fatu, Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns.
