More WWE stars to be removed from roster: Four absent names who are surprisingly still listed as current superstars

While fans will never know all the details of incomings and outgoings, the official WWE roster page is typically a good indication of where a talent stands in the company.

If someone has been moved to the alumni section, it tends to be mean they’re no longer with WWE, or at least not in a wrestling capacity – such as John Cena, and most recently Titus O’Neil and Bobby Roode.

While the page seems fairly up to date, there are a few anomalies that stand out; with four names still listed as ‘current superstars’ despite not being on the road with the rest of the roster, or in some cases not being seen on TV in years.

Here are four WWE stars who could potentially be removed from the current superstars roster page in the future.

Tamina

It has now been three and a half years since Tamina last wrestled a match in WWE, with her last outings being a pair of matches on Main Event in February 2023. Despite this, Tamina has remained listed as an active member of the roster ever since then.

It was reported by Fightful Select in July 2025 that Tamina was still under contract with the company despite not being used. Despite still being considered a ‘current superstar’ the report stated that she was not on the company’s internal roster, was not assigned to any particular brand and was not often backstage at WWE events either.

It’s unclear if anything has changed in that regard over the past year, but at least going by WWE’s official website, it appears as if Tamina is still a WWE superstar.

Shane McMahon

Another curious situation is Shane McMahon’s status in WWE. While it was reported in June 2024 that ‘Shane-O-Mac’ was not under any kind of contract with the company, he is still listed on the WWE roster page at the time of writing.

This remained the case throughout the period of time where he was linked with a move to AEW, with McMahon famously meeting Tony Khan at a private airport in 2024.

Nothing came of that, and Shane has not appeared for WWE since either. Will he ever come back? Who knows. But for now he is seemingly still a part of WWE in some form or fashion.

Maryse

Unlike our first two entries, Maryse has made appearances in WWE in recent years; most recently being her cameo during Danhausen’s invasion of The Miz’s home in April.

However, the former Divas Champion has not regularly appeared by The Miz’s side since early 2022, when she was involved in a mixed tag team rivalry with Edge and Beth Phoenix leading into that year’s Royal Rumble.

Despite the sporadic nature in which she is used, WWE.com still has Maryse listed as a member of the current roster.

Pat McAfee

This one is certainly easier to comprehend than our other three entries, but WWE still has Pat McAfee listed as a member of the current roster, despite the former NFL punter publicly putting wrestling behind him earlier this year.

McAfee was a part of WWE between 2018-2026, performing as a color commentator, panelist and on occasion, a wrestler.

He was popular with the crowd for most of his time in the company, but his final run proved to ruin any and all of that goodwill when he revealed himself to be Randy Orton’s mystery ally during his WrestleMania 42 feud with Cody Rhodes.

With McAfee’s involvement certainly not needed in a rivalry between two friends of 20 years, WWE did their best to wipe their hands of the angle at WrestleMania 42, when Orton turned on Pat and hit him with an RKO. With no likely WWE return in sight, McAfee may be someone eventually removed from the roster page.
