On Sunday, September 27, Benjamin Satterley, better known to wrestling fans as PAC or Adrian Neville, passed away.
This has left the wrestling world in absolute shock as it came just one day after wrestling at AEW All Out 2026.
From his time coming up in the UK and signing with WWE to becoming the face of the cruiserweights and then All Elite Wrestling, PAC has continued to show what made him special as an individual and to the entire wrestling business.
In this article, I will look back on what made PAC the endearing backbone of the UK independent scene, WWE NXT, 205 Live and AEW.
PAC becomes an innovator on the UK indies and breaks out around the world
Starting his career in 2004, PAC made his in-ring debut for Independent Wrestling Federation after getting his start competing on the backyard wrestling scene at just 16 years old.
Showing off stunning athleticism inside the squared circle, PAC began to turn heads and would make his mark up and down the country.
Through his hard work, dedication and skill displayed across Europe and even Japan, PAC put the British wrestling scene on the map in the 2000s into the 2010s.
That eventually led to his signing with WWE in 2012 that turned a lot of heads in the industry.
PAC becomes Adrian Neville in WWE and becomes the face of the NXT brand during the Network era
Signing with the company in July 2012, PAC surprised many when he headed to WWE.
With his otherworldly agility and versatility, PAC was much different from the typical signings at this time in WWE.
Becoming the face of NXT when it moved to WWE Network, PAC, then known as Adrian Neville, was the inaugural and two-time NXT Tag Team Champion as well as a record-breaking run as NXT Champion.
With his rivalries against Sami Zayn and Bo Dallas, “The Man That Gravity Forgot” is remembered as one of the most innovative stars in NXT history and that led to his eventual call-up to the main roster.
Neville becomes “The King of the Cruiserweights”
For much of his first two years on the main roster, it did not seem like Vince McMahon understood the talent that Adrian Neville, then known just as Neville, had.
However, things became the change when WWE reintroduced the Cruiserweight division and Neville went on to turn heel.
At WWE Royal Rumble 2017, Neville defeated his longtime friend Rich Swann to win the title. From there, he had two separate reigns that put a massive spotlight on the title, the division and the 205 Live show.
After a controversial rivalry with Enzo Amore, Neville went on to leave the company and sit on the sidelines during a contract dispute with WWE.
PAC’s return to the indies and eventually become The Bastard in AEW
It did not take long for Adrian Neville to once again become PAC and return to his home on the indies, but then the wrestling world changed with the start of All Elite Wrestling.
“The Bastard” was one of the first free agent signings for the company and instantly became a major star there.
From his initial appearance at the kickoff rally in his full gear that led to the creation of an AEW pay-per-view to his signature rivalries with Kenny Omega, “Hangman” Adam Page and Orange Cassidy, PAC has left an unforgettable mark on the company.
Over his illustrious career, PAC can be remembered as the backbone of the UK indies, WWE NXT, 205 Live and All Elite Wrestling. We will miss you, “Bastard.”
