WWE
On the May 23 edition of AAA on FOX, WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio was announced the new Lucha Libre AAA General Manager.
Wanting to bring some order and make important decisions for the company, Mysterio feels like someone who will make improvements that will make AAA even more essential in the wrestling landscape.
Mysterio will have an important announcement on June 6 episode of AAA on FOX that could alter how the promotion will look moving forward.
Here are six potential Rey Mysterio special WWE AAA announcements.
6. Next AAA PLE Announcement
Lucha Libre AAA is currently holding their two-week Noche de Los Grandes events with the second of the two shows taking place on June 6.
After the success of Week One, it should be intriguing to see how Week Two is received following the massive Mask vs. Mask main event on May 30.
Rey Mysterio could be about to announce the next special event that fans can look forward to from the brand.
According to recent reports, AAA is currently scheduled to hold their Verano de Escàndalo event on Saturday, July 25, which could be exactly what Mysterio is about to announce.
5. New WWE Stars Coming To AAA
Since announcing their acquisition of Lucha Libre AAA, WWE has sent several stars over to Mexico to compete in the promotion.
Whether it be El Grande Americano or the current AAA Mega Championship Dominik Mysterio, these WWE talents have been a major part of the Mexican company over the past year.
There are quite a few names on the WWE roster that do not have active spots on the company’s programming and may need to make their way to AAA to get the spotlight.
From Ivy Nile and Jordynne Grace to Shinsuke Nakamura and Ilja Dragunov, there are quite a few stars that are not consistently used on WWE TV that Rey Mysterio can announce is coming to AAA soon.
4. AAA Coming To Netflix
Following the June 1 edition of Monday Night Raw, the company aired an encore presentation on Netflix of El Grande Americano vs. The Original El Grande Americano in a Mask vs. Mask Match at AAA Noche de Los Grandes.
While this was a move made in response to the overwhelming success and praise this bout received, it could also be viewed as an audition for a longer term relationship with the streaming platform.
Recently, WWE President Nick Khan stated that he hoped to have Lucha Libre AAA on Netflix more often.
Considering their weekly show airs on YouTube in the United States, WWE could get to the point where they eventually start airing AAA weekly on Netflix, which may be just what Rey Mysterio is about to announce.
3. AAA Trios Championships Announced
Back in April, Lucha Libre AAA announced that there would be a series of trios matches to highlight talent from all over the world.
There are a number of trios that can be assembled based on the countries represented in AAA and WWE.
From those who took part in these initial trios bouts to newer units created to vie for gold, AAA reintroducing the Trios Titles could provide new opportunities for the talent on these rosters.
Rey Mysterio announcing AAA Trios Championships would further show how much the WWE Hall of Famer cares about the history of the company, knowing how important these titles have been to the promotion throughout the years.
2. Rey Mysterio’s WWE Intercontinental Championship Match With Penta Will Take Place In AAA
Over on WWE TV, Rey Mysterio has recently made his return and discussed a potential showdown with Penta for the Intercontinental Championship.
On the May 25 edition of Monday Night Raw, Mysterio defeated Rusev to earn a future shot at the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
While this title bout was set up on WWE programming, there is a chance that these two AAA legends may be able to have a high profile title clash on the company’s television.
Mysterio announcing his IC Title match for a future episode of AAA on FOX would be huge and further showcase how the company has become a significant part of the landscape.
1. AAA TripleMania 34 Main Event Announcement
Lucha Libre AAA is gearing up for their biggest show of the year with the TripleMania 34 events in September.
With a two-night event taking place from Las Vegas, Nevada and Mexico City, Mexico, this will be a celebration of lucha libre pride and also see several WWE stars in the country for live events as well as episodes of Raw and SmackDown.
While there are three months remaining before these events, Rey Mysterio might want to announce the main event ahead of tickets going on sale for the show.
After his massive victory in the Mask vs. Mask Match, El Grande Americano cashing in his Rey de Reyes sword to challenge Dominik Mysterio for the AAA Mega Title feels like the kind of star studded headliner that TripleMania 34 is deserving of.
