On the June 1 edition of WWE Monday Night Raw, it was announced that Finn Balor was heading to Friday Night SmackDown.
After being on WWE Raw the past four years, Balor was ready for the fresh scenery, especially considering his rivalry with The Judgment Day recently coming to an end.
This could lead to some new opportunities and fresh matchups for Balor on Friday nights moving forward.
Here are seven potential Finn Balor WWE SmackDown plans.
7. Feud With Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn and Finn Balor last faced off in WWE in a Money in the Bank qualifier three-way with Seth Rollins on May 26, 2025
Over the past several weeks, Sami Zayn has been expressing frustrations with his current standing within WWE SmackDown.
After multiple failures to win a world title and feeling under appreciated, Zayn has snapped and finally showed his true colors when he walked out on his friend Cody Rhodes when he was choked out by GUNTHER on the May 22 SmackDown.
With Finn Balor heading to Friday Night SmackDown, Zayn might view another friend as a threat to his spot on the blue brand.
Feuding with Zayn would be an interesting first feud for Balor on Friday Night SmackDown that will most likely lead to some exciting encounters against one another.
6. Going After Trick Williams’ United States Championship
At WWE WrestleMania 42 Night Two, Trick Williams defeated Sami Zayn to win the United States Championship.
Since then, there have been several stars gunning for Williams’ title, including Carmelo Hayes and Ricky Saints.
While Hayes and Saints have issued their challenge for the gold, Balor is someone who is one of the more decorated stars on the WWE roster and might be more deserving of a title shot.
Balor’s move to SmackDown could see him targeting some gold after not being a singles champion throughout his run in The Judgment Day, leading to an intriguing first time meeting with Trick.
5. Facing Off With The Returning Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre & Finn Balor last wrestled one-on-one on the June 10, 2024 episode of WWE Raw
Speaking of WrestleMania 42, fans have not seen Drew McIntyre since his loss to Jacob Fatu in an Unsanctioned Match.
Absent from WWE TV, McIntyre has been filming his role in the upcoming Highlander movie.
With the filming now over, it could lead to “The Scottish Warrior” making his way back to WWE television and immediately being thrusted into a significant rivalry.
Being no strangers to one another, Balor and McIntyre could have some hard hitting and memorable bouts against one another that would solidify both men’s place on SmackDown upon their returns to the blue brand.
4. Helping Damian Priest & R-Truth In Their Feud With The MFTs
Someone else that Finn Balor is no stranger to as a tag team partner and rival is Damian Priest.
Alongside Priest on SmackDown is his tag team partner, friend and former Judgment Day pseudo stablemate R-Truth.
Over the past few weeks, Truth and Priest have been feuding with The MFTs and clearly outnumbered by Solo Sikoa and company.
Needing someone to even the odds with this group, Finn Balor could redeem himself with Priest after their Judgment Day fallout by helping him and R-Truth against The MFTs now that he has arrived on Friday nights.
3. OG Judgment Day Reunion

Speaking of Damian Priest and R-Truth, Finn Balor coming to SmackDown could lead to a reunion of the OG Judgment Day.
Besides Priest and Truth, SmackDown also includes the current WWE Women’s Champion and former Judgment Day member Rhea Ripley.
Despite their intense split back in 2024, absence can make the heart grow fonder and could lead to Priest, Truth and Ripley willing to forgive Balor now that he suffered the same fate that they did.
Having all been excommunicated from The Judgment Day, these former members of the faction could come together as a new stable that has what it takes to take over Friday Night SmackDown.
2. Squaring Off With GUNTHER Again
Back in 2024, Finn Balor and GUNTHER faced one another for the very first time ahead of “The Ring General” winning the World Heavyweight Championship.
The two men crossed paths again when they faced each other and Damian Priest in a three-way match for the World Heavyweight Championship at the December 14 WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Ahead of WWE Clash In Italy 2026, GUNTHER became the latest addition to the SmackDown brand after negotiating himself into an Undisputed WWE Championship match.
After losing his title shot at the PLE, GUNTHER might need a quality win against someone of the stature of Balor to get another opportunity down the line.
1. Challenging Cody Rhodes For Undisputed WWE Championship

Finn Balor has only ever defeated Cody Rhodes in tag team competition in WWE
Speaking of the Undisputed WWE Championship, Cody Rhodes still finds himself at the top of Friday Night SmackDown.
Rhodes is someone else on the blue brand that Finn Balor is no stranger to whatsoever, having crossed paths on several different occasions over the past few years.
Despite their singles meetings in the past, Balor has never had a major match on a premium live event against “The American Nightmare.”
Looking to pursue the Undisputed WWE Championship, Balor could add a great deal of experience and skill to the main event picture on the blue brand, challenging Rhodes for the top prize on Friday nights.
