Finn Balor’s former Judgment Day teammates Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest have reacted to his official move to WWE Friday Night SmackDown.
After months of feuding with Dominik Mysterio and the rest of The Judgment Day, it was confirmed by Byron Saxton during an ad break on the June 1 episode of Raw that Finn Balor has now been traded to SmackDown.
The Irish star has already set his sights on the names he’d like to challenge, or potentially team up with inside the ring, with Balor posting a list of nine WWE stars on his Twitter, along with the caption: “Friend of foe?”
As well as the likes of Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, his former NJPW colleagues Shinsuke Nakamura and Tama Tonga and “The Ring General” GUNTHER, Balor included two of his former Judgment Day allies Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest on his list.
This unsurprisingly drew the attention of Priest and Ripley, who shared GIFs indicating that they’re perhaps not open to an OG Judgment Day reunion any time soon.
As can be seen here, Ripley responded in GIF form with the caption on the image reading:
I remember everything.
Priest, on the other hand didn’t bring up Balor’s sketchy actions towards him in the past, instead seeming offended at his former friend misspelling his first name Damian as “Damien” in his initial Twitter post.
Along with a GIF of a very much unimpressed looking child, Priest wrote:
You spelled my name wrong
It’s worth noting that Balor also included Priest’s current WWE tag team partner R-Truth on his list of potential friends or foes on SmackDown, with Truth also once being an unofficial member of The Judgment Day in 2023/2024. However, as of the time of writing, Truth has yet to react to Balor’s tweet.
Finn Balor Will Have To Go A Long Way To Mend Fences With His Former Judgment Day Allies
Despite his feud with the actual Judgment Day of the present now being behind him, we could potentially see Balor’s time on SmackDown still revisit his history as a member of the group.
While Edge (Adam Copeland) was the original founder of The Judgment Day, it was the quartet of Priest, Ripley, Balor and Dominik Mysterio who truly made the group into one of WWE’s best of the last decade.
The golden era of The Judgment Day came to an end at SummerSlam 2024, when both Priest and Ripley were betrayed on the very same night, with “Dirty Dom” stabbing his former on-screen girlfriend in the back in favor of Liv Morgan, and Balor costing Priest his World Heavyweight Championship against GUNTHER.
This would be the beginning of a feud pitting “The Terror Twins” (Ripley & Priest) against the new Judgment Day, which consisted of Balor, Morgan, Mysterio, JD McDonagh, Raquel Rodriguez and Carlito.
Priest and Ripley mostly got the better of The Judgment Day in that feud, but it’s evident that both still harbour a grudge against Balor, with Priest even rubbing salt in the wounds of the former WWE Universal Champion when he was kicked out of the group in March.
While we have seen plenty of unlikely reunions in WWE, it’s clear that Balor will have to go the extra mile to mend fences if we stand any chance of an OG Judgment Day reunion on SmackDown.
