The semifinals are now set for the NJPW Best of the Super Juniors 33 tournament, with an AEW star eliminated following an impressive showing in block action.
With A and B block action concluding on June 3, we now know the four stars who will continue on to the semifinals on June 5.
Both of Friday’s semifinal matches will see allies face off, with A-block winner Master Wato to face B-block runner-up YOH, and B-block winner Robbie Eagles to face A-block runner-up Kosei Fujita.
Master Wato finished on 12 points, beating Nick Wayne on Wednesday to advance, placing ahead of Fujita and Francesco Akira due to the tiebreaker system, having beaten both of them in block action.
Robbie Eagles also finished on 12 points, with the tiebreaker system placing him ahead of runner-up YOH, El Desperado, SHO and Taiji Ishimori.
The two semifinal matches will take place on Friday, June 5, with the grand final to take place on Sunday, June 7.
With the conclusion of block action ends Nick Wayne’s aspirations of becoming the youngest Best of the Super Juniors winner in history, with Wayne finishing on 10 points.
The AEW star had an impressive outing in the NJPW tournament, defeating Ryusuke Taguchi, Robbie X, Daiki Nagai, Titán and Valiente Jr.
Wayne came up short in the tournament against Master Wato, Kosei Fujita, Francesco Akira and Jun Kasai, with the latter name bowing to Wayne after the match, and pitching for Wayne to face his son, Hinata Kasai.
After being announced for the 2026 tournament, Nick Wayne stated that he viewed his entry as a shot at redemption, after finishing with eight points in his 2025 Best of the Super Juniors tournament debut.
With Nick Wayne improving on his final points standing and scoring victories over notable names, he will be able to return to the US with his head held high.
