WWE’s William Regal has shared his honest thoughts on Chad Gable, having worked with the star for over a decade.

Chad Gable was recently forced to unmask as The Original El Grande Americano after his match at Noche de Los Grandes on May 30.

With his documentary series “The Renewal” set to drop on his YouTube channel this Friday (June 5), Gable has seen himself as the subject of praise from WWE executive William Regal, who tweeted:

“I’ve been fortunate to work with Chad for over a decade. An exceptional Pro in every sense and a diamond of a man. Very happy for him.”

The self-edited documentary series details Gable’s injuries and comeback, with his return as El Grande Americano taking place at this year’s Royal Rumble, having been sidelined since June of last year.

Further details of the documentary would be shared on Gable’s personal Instagram account, revealing:

“I’ve spent my entire career preaching discipline, preparation, and accountability. Then I got hurt.

“For the first time in my professional wrestling career, I was forced to stop and figure out who I am when the thing I’ve built my life around gets taken away.

“So I’m bringing you with me.

“Starting this Friday, follow my 9-part YouTube series as I rebuild from the ground up through rehab, training, nutrition, setbacks, victories, and everything in between.

“New episodes every Friday.

“No shortcuts. No excuses. No pretending every day is a good day. Just the work.”

After last night’s WWE Raw, the mask vs mask match would air on Netflix, marking the first time that a AAA match had received such a showcase.

What Next For Chad Gable?

Chad Gable may no longer be in the El Grande Americano mask, having originated the character in March of last year, but it appears that he isn’t done with AAA.

With Ludwig Kaiser continuing as El Grande Americano, and Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate as Rayo & Bravo Americano respectively, there’s plenty of mileage in Los Americanos yet, be it in WWE and over in AAA. El Grande Americano won this year’s Rey de Reyes, an event that could be seen as the Mexico-based promotion’s own King of the Ring, and there’s certainly more opportunity for Los Americanos to command championships in either company.

As for Gable, a former WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champion and a two-time Raw Tag Team Champion, the star has only held the Speed Championship in singles competition as El Grande Americano, with the title transferring to Kaiser due to the aforementioned injury. It’s not beyond the realm of possibility that Gable could seek a singles title run.

The leader of American Made, Gable could be suited for a run as United States Champion, although a brand change would be necessary there. Meanwhile, the Intercontinental Championship is currently in the hands of Dominik Mysterio, himself an excessively popular star in AAA. A feud between the two, with Mexican wrestling history as its backdrop, could be an interesting way to approach this.

Gable has long been considered a quality star in WWE, with Kurt Angle previously stating he believed his fellow Olympian athlete could be a world champion, yet reaching that next level has remained obstinately just out of reach, despite stellar showings.

With past reports that a return for Baron Corbin has been “heavily talked about“, let’s hope that the plan isn’t to return to the “Shorty G” era of 2019.
