The potential WWE return of Baron Corbin (Bishop Dyer) has been “heavily talked about” according to a new report.
It has been almost two years since fans last saw Baron Corbin compete in a WWE ring, with the former United States Champion’s last match on TV coming in August 2024.
Three months after his last appearance it was confirmed that Corbin was departing the company after WWE opted not to renew his contract, which then paved the way for a reinvention on the independent scene as Bishop Dyer.
As Bishop Dyer, Corbin has found success as a singles star and as one half of The Skyscrapers tag team along with fellow WWE alum Donovan Dijak.
While the pair currently hold the Major League Wrestling World Tag Team Championships, it has been reported by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio that a Corbin WWE return has been discussed within the company:
“(Baron Corbin is) Probably back. Right back in WWE. “I’ve not heard a done deal, but I know it’s been talked about. I just know that he’s been talked about being brought in.
“It might even be done but I haven’t had it officially confirmed to me that it’s done. I have 100% been confirmed that it’s been heavily talked about.”

Corbin spent 12 years in WWE between 2012 and 2024, winning the United States Championship and NXT Tag Team Championships with Bron Breakker. He also won Money in the Bank in 2017, but failed in his cash-in attempt on then WWE Champion Jinder Mahal.
An Unexpected, But Welcome Return For Baron Corbin
While returns are never something that can be ruled out, there didn’t seem to be a whole lot of anticipation that Baron Corbin would make his return to WWE less than two years after the company opted not to hand him a new contract.
WWE being interested in bringing Corbin back into the fold is a testament to the work he’s been putting in on the independent scene, and many will feel as if there is unfinished business and untapped potential in the 41-year-old star.
Corbin was let go by WWE during what was his first true babyface run of his career, and off the back of a fruitful reinvention in NXT.
While it certainly wouldn’t be a bad thing for WWE to bring Corbin back as a heel, picking up where he left off as a babyface would be a welcome change and perhaps the more natural course of action, as fans will be happy to see “The Lone Wolf” back inside a WWE ring once again.
