Je’Von Evans has shared his thoughts on his main roster run in WWE and revealed he didn’t expect it all to happen so soon.

Signed to his first WWE contract in late 2023 and making his NXT TV debut in April 2024, Je’Von Evans would see his main roster call up take place this past January, signing to the Raw brand on the Netflix anniversary show.

Speaking to Denise Salcedo, Evans was asked about his run on the main roster so far, revealing a “chip on my shoulder” mentality to the work he’s putting in, saying:

“I think honestly, just hard work. I feel like right now I just have something to prove, and I’m just trying to prove that I can be one of the greats at a very young age, before I get old.

“I’m just wrestling like I’ve got a chip on my shoulder and I feel like I’m going to continue to do that until I get to a comfortable level where I don’t have to do that anymore.”

When it comes to his elevation to the main roster, Evans didn’t quite envision it happening as soon as it did, reflecting on whether it was what he expected, stating:

“Yeah, for sure, plus more. I expected all this, I just didn’t expect it to happen so soon. But I’m blessed and happy that it’s happening right now so I can get somewhat of (an) experience.”

Evans has certainly had quite the run on WWE Raw, seeing multiple victories this year in singles action, although May would end with a loss to Penta for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

‘One Of The Greats’

It’s a bold ambition, but Je’Von Evans hoping to secure his legacy as ‘one of the greats’ at just 22 years old isn’t beyond the realm of possibility.

Evans was one of the NXT stars selected to compete at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, the show which would mark John Cena’s final match, competing alongside TNA Wrestling star Leon Slater in a tag team match against AJ Styles & Dragon Lee. An exhibition match it may have been, but the density of the NXT roster indicates the faith that WWE higher-ups have in the star to showcase his talents on a main roster show.

The main roster was bound to be the destination for a star like Evans, with The Miz praising him, alongside Trick Williams and Oba Femi, as “the next big things” in WWE.

Evans has previously stated that he was working his way up to being a top star in NXT before the main roster call-up, suggesting he is restarting the journey to the top in a new setting.

A spot in this year’s men’s Elimination Chamber match, and the recent outing against Penta may not have led to victory, yet they certainly showcase the talent of the young star, seeing him in good company in both settings.

It’s not beyond the realm of possibility that greatness beckons for Evans, with championship opportunities and main roster titles no doubt in that future.
