Sol Ruca has captured her first championship in WWE, defeating Becky Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship Clash In Italy.

Sol Ruca was touted as one of the fastest rising stars in NXT’s women’s division over the past few years, with her holding both the NXT Women’s North American and Women’s Speed Championship simultaneously.

Sol officially made the move up to the WWE main roster on the Raw after WrestleMania 42, where she faced Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan in her debut match.

The week after, Sol would sign her WWE Raw contract, with her signing being interrupted by Becky Lynch, leading to Sol dropping Becky with a Sol Snatcher.

Becky and Sol faced off at Saturday Night’s Main Event last weekend, with their match ending in two minutes after Sol got disqualified for accidentally hitting referee Jessika Carr with the Sol Snatcher.

A rematch between the two was then made for WWE Clash In Italy, with a title change taking place in the match.

Sol would pick up the win over Becky, earning her her first WWE main roster championship.

Sol Ruca Finding Her Footing On The WWE Main Roster

Many WWE fans pointed out ahead of Clash In Italy that Sol Ruca hadn’t had the most successful transition to the main roster from NXT.

Heading into today, Ruca suffered losses to both Liv Morgan and IYO SKY, and also lost her last NXT match to Zaria during that time.

Tonight’s win of course goes some way to undoing that as she’s now a champion, but it’s not just the results that haven’t been entirely smooth.

Ruca has noticeably had some issues with her Sol Snatcher finishing move on multiple occasions on the main roster already, and while they are just freak accidents, there do have to be some questions asked about the fragility of the move.

It may be smart for Ruca to establish a new finishing move that she can use on a more regular basis, saving the Sol Snatcher for major occasions as a ‘super finisher’ of sorts.
