This will be the second Grand Slam Mexico event, following the first on June 18, 2025. Tony Khan had stated following this show that a return to Mexico was “almost a virtual certainty” for AEW.

Last year’s event was headlined by a 10-man tag-team match, with The Beast Mortos, Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta and the Young Bucks facing off against Will Ospreay, Swerve Strickland, Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata and Powerhouse Hobbs.

AEW has already held a Grand Slam event this year, with Grand Slam Australia headlined by MJF vs Brody King on February 14.

While the first four AEW Grand Slam events took place at New York’s Arthur Ashe Stadium between 2021-2024, it now appears to be a brand related to recurring international visits.

With Tony Khan previously stating that he wants to hold AEW shows in France and Germany, it would make sense for one of these locations to be the next host of Grand Slam.
