WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray has reacted to fan criticisms and negativity surrounding Oba Femi losing to Brock Lesnar at Clash In Italy.
Following Femi defeating Lesnar in under five minutes at WrestleMania 42, The Beast evened the scoreboard on May 30, handing the former NXT Champion his first one-on-one loss on the main roster.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray emphasised his feelings that, not only will Oba Femi be fine following the loss, that he’ll be a bigger star because of it.
Putting it simply, the Hall of Famer said:
“To anybody that took to social media to show concern for Oba Femi, to anybody who’s listening to us this morning, concerned about Oba Femi, who think they did the wrong thing (at Clash In Italy) with Oba Femi, who thinks Oba Femi’s push is going to be affected, who thinks Oba Femi is getting buried…
“If you think one negative thing about Oba Femi’s future in the WWE because of what happened in losing to Brock Lesnar, you’re wrong.
“Oba is fine, he’s going to be fine, and when this is all said and done, Oba will be a bigger star for it.”

While it can be annoying to see a star with a lot of momentum take a loss, it was evident that WWE put a lot of effort into making Oba Femi still look strong in his defeat.
Not only did Lesnar attack Femi before the bell, Femi kicked out of four consecutive F5s very early on in the match.
The F5 has historically been a well-protected move, with Lesnar having a year-long story ahead of WrestleMania 34 building up the F5 as a move which he only needed to use once to pick up the victory.
This story culminated with Roman Reigns surviving six F5’s before a seventh finally kept him down. It also took seven F5’s to defeat Oba Femi, indicating that WWE is trying to put over Femi as strong as Roman Reigns in 2018.
Oba Femi didn’t stay down for long, winning his King of the Ring first round four-way in dominant fashion on the June 1 Raw episode, and teasing one more match against Brock Lesnar.
With SummerSlam taking place in Minneapolis, it has been heavily speculated that Lesnar could retire in his hometown. If Femi ends the trilogy of matches by retiring Brock Lesnar, WWE will assert the Nigerian star as the company’s next big thing.
