AEW
The Butcher and The Blade have reportedly departed All Elite Wrestling (AEW) following the expiration of their contracts.
The duo debuted in AEW in November 2019 in an alliance with Allie (The Bunny).
With some absences caused by injury issues, Butcher hadn’t had a match in AEW since February 2025, and Blade hadn’t had one since January 2024.
Fightful Select now reports that their contracts came up recently and AEW didn’t offer them extensions.
They are now free agents and are available to wrestle and sign elsewhere.
They most recently teamed together at Limitless Wrestling’s Bissell Brothers Bash in April, where they defeated former WWE ID talent Bryce Donovan and Vinny Scalice.
During their time in AEW, they ended up in a number of different groups including with MJF, Kip Sabian and the Matt Hardy Family Office.
Where Will The Butcher & The Blade Go Next After AEW
There has been talk in recent weeks that WWE could be looking to revitalize its tag team division, which makes an arrival for The Butcher & The Blade somewhat possible.
However, in the landscape of AEW, Butcher & Blade aren’t the biggest names, nor are they young enough to be considered developmental prospects for the future at 48 and 46 respectively.
Since his return from injury a few months ago, Blade has worked some matches for GCW, as well as numerous promotions in Canada.
Butcher, meanwhile, worked a match for Mystery Wrestling a few months ago where he challenged for the PROGRESS Atlas Championship against Will Kroos (now known as Mason Rook in NXT), fellow former AEW star Bear Bronson and Gabby Forza.
We’ll keep you posted with any further updates on their futures and we wish Butcher and Blade all the best going forward.
