6 Times WWE Failed To Use The Elimination Chamber To Create New Stars

3. Carlito & Chris Masters (New Year’s Revolution 2006)

A twofold entry here, as both Carlito and Chris Masters looked primed for a breakout 2006 after an impressive showing in the Elimination Chamber match.

Carlito and Chris Masters both received a WWE Championship match at the 2006 New Year’s Revolution pay-per-view, in a match alongside veterans like Shawn Michaels, Kane and Kurt Angle, as well as then-WWE Champion John Cena.

Masters and Carlito actually took control of a good portion of the match, with them working together to eliminate Kane, and Carlito eliminating Shawn Michaels.

The duo worked together to weaken John Cena, before Carlito pinned Masters and Cena pinned Carlito to retain the title, allowing for the famous first-ever Money In The Bank cash-in.

But surely this performance would lead to a big year for the two? Well, they went on to serve as a semi-full-time tag team for WrestleMania, where they were defeated in the opening match by Kane and Big Show.

The two then broke up and wrestled at Backlash in a nothing match that Carlito won, with Carlito remaining a midcarder for the rest of his run in the company while Masters very quickly sunk.
