While not yet formally announced, fans will be anticipating the next instalment in the yearly WWE 2K series: WWE 2K27, at some point early next year.

With CM Punk, Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes picked as the cover stars for the past three games, we should expect someone new to be featured on the front of WWE 2K27.

Here are three potential WWE 2K27 cover stars.

Oba Femi

If WWE want to select someone who represents the future of the company, they need look no further than Oba Femi.

Femi appears set to become the next face of WWE after a true breakout year in 2026, and should be a favorite to appear on the cover of a WWE 2K game before too long.

Not since Brock Lesnar has a WWE star featured on the cover of a mainline WWE game within their first year on the main roster, but Femi would be a fitting choice to be given that honor given that it was he who retired ‘The Beast’ for good.

Considering ‘The Ruler’ is the favorite to win the Men’s Royal Rumble and main event WrestleMania 43, having him front and center in the marketing for WWE 2K27 is a no brainer of a choice.

Brock Lesnar

Alternatively, WWE could instead choose a nostalgia option for the WWE 2K27 cover, with the aforementioned Brock Lesnar gracing his first cover since WWE 2K17 a decade ago.

Lesnar’s recent retirement could lead to WWE basing next year’s Showcase Mode around his career, as they have done for the likes of CM Punk and The Bloodline in recent years.

WWE 2K22, 23, 25 and 26 all featured cover stars based upon who that year’s Showcase Mode was about. So, if Lesnar does end up the focus of the mode, he would likely be a shoo-in to appear on the front.

What makes this perhaps a but more unlikely is that Lesnar being the focal point of WWE 2K27 would probably require him to do a lot of media to promote the game, and based on his comments after his retirement, it seems he’s quite keen to stay away from the public eye now he’s hung up his boots.

Rhea Ripley

Quite bafflingly there has still not been a female WWE star featured as the sole cover star of a game in the 2K series.

Sure WWE 2K20 had Becky Lynch featured, but that came alongside Roman Reigns. WWE 2K24’s special edition did feature both Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair, but it was the standard version of the game – featuring Cody Rhodes on the front – which you were far more likely to see on the shelf inside a store.

So, safe to say it is about time for a female star to get the full spotlight on a 2K cover, and if that is to happen you would imagine that honor would go to the company’s top female star: Rhea Ripley.

Ripley may be out of action with a knee injury, but hopefully by the time WWE 2K27 gets announced she will be fit and able to compete once more and help out with the game’s marketing push.
