After a year as the AAA Mega Champion, Dominik Mysterio no longer holds the title, but what’s next for the WWE star?
Night 2 of Triplemania 34 saw El Grande Americano capture the AAA Mega Championship with a victory over Dominik Mysterio, despite the best efforts of JD McDonagh, Omos and Liv Morgan.
With a title reign that started at Worlds Collide: Las Vegas on September 12 last year, Mysterio amassed a Mega Championship reign of 366 days.
With Worlds Collide approaching once again, let’s take a look at possible options for the Judgment Day member:
Rematch at Worlds Collide
The obvious next step would be a rematch for the championship, with that taking place at Worlds Collide on September 26.
Both Mysterio and El Grande Americano have proven popular with the AAA fans in very different ways and hold a similar standing in the WWE, making this a perfect moment to bring them back together.
Worlds Collide takes place on the same evening as AEW All Out, this could be a match that has fans keeping an eye on what’s taking place at the Allstate Arena show.
The Decline of Dirty Dom
The first star to hold championships in WWE and AAA at the same time and the first Mysterio to hold the Mega Championship, the title reign was quite the outing for Dominik Mysterio, and now it’s at an end.
A two-time Intercontinental Champion, two-time North American Champion, former SmackDown Tag Team Champion and now a former AAA Mega Champion, Mysterio has bounced back from all the titles that he’s lost, but now would be the time to explore the impact on the star.
With Liv Morgan no longer the WWE Women’s World Champion following her loss to Stephanie Vaquer, it’s unlikely that the Judgment Day member is going to want the attention on anyone but herself, leaving Dominik in her shadow.
The idea of Dominik Mysterio being further isolated by Judgment Day, who are oblivious to what he’s going through, in favor of Morgan could tell an interesting story for his departure from the faction.
El Ojo To WWE Raw
Whether before or after he splits with Judgment Day, it’s time for Dominik Mysterio to bring Omos back to the main roster, joining him on WWE Raw.
Using them in the way the pair have been used over on AAA would strengthen the presentation of Mysterio, with the star having previously reportedly been frustrated by his main roster booking.
Mysterio is fast approaching the point where Judgment Day is going to hold him back, and there’s a feud to be had in the wake of his eventual departure.
It’s Time To Rethink Dominik Mysterio
August kicked off with Dominik Mysterio in a Human Monies on a Pole match against Danhausen at SummerSlam, while this month has seen the Judgment Day member face off against Joe Hendry on Sunday Night’s Main Event, going on to a loss at the hands of El Grande Americano at AAA Triplemania.
There’s still time to rejuvenate the star on WWE Raw before the year ends and there are plenty of ways to deliver a satisfying direction for Dominik Mysterio outside of Judgment Day.
