Flammer’s record-breaking AAA Reina de Reinas Championship reign has come to an end at tonight’s TripleMania 34 show.
On August 12, 2023, Flammer captured her first AAA Reina de Reinas Championship after defeating Taya Valkyrie for the title.
Alongside Lady Maravilla and La Hiedra as Las Toxicas, Flammer has gone on to create history with the title, with her now the longest reigning champion in the history of the title at 1128 days.
Flammer captured the title before WWE’s purchase of the promotion, and remains the only current champion in AAA to still reign as champion from before WWE’s takeover of the company.
La Catalina wins AAA Reina de Reinas Championship, ends Flammer’s 1128 day reign
However, Flammer has had to fend off the threat of La Catalina over the past few months since she left CMLL to join AAA, with them already facing off in a three-way for the title with Lady Shani, which Flammer retained in.
At tonight’s TripleMania 34 night two, the singles match between Flammer and Catalina finally took place, and it brought with it the first new Reina de Reinas Champion in over three years, as La Catalina was able to defeat Flammer to win the title for the first time in her career.
La Catalina becomes the second Chilean woman in 24 hours to become women’s champion in WWE after Stephanie Vaquer’s victory over Liv Morgan at last night’s WWE live event in Chile.
This is Catalina’s first title of her WWE career, with her having previously worked for the company from 2019 to 2021, competing under the names Katrina Cortez and briefly on WWE Raw as Carolina, where she teamed with Sin Cara.
The potential of both Flammer & La Catalina in WWE
While AAA is run as an entirely separate promotion instead of being viewed as a developmental brand for WWE, most of the frequently appearing names are under contract to WWE.
With both just being 26 years old, there is an incredible amount of potential for both Flammer and Catalina not only in AAA, but in WWE altogether.
Catalina recently appeared on WWE’s live event tour in South America, where she teamed with Tatum Paxley and Charlotte Flair against Fatal Influence, so she has already shared the ring with some main roster WWE names during her run.
With Flammer no longer the Reina de Reinas Champion, and Las Toxicas seemingly on the verge of a breakup, we may see Flammer soon make the move to NXT alongside her appearances in AAA.
