With Sami Zayn winning back the Undisputed WWE Championship, it can be argued that the new titleholder is a two-time Grand Slam winner, having won each relevant title at least twice over.
Following this, there are a number of stars who we could soon see become a Grand Slam champion for the first time, with several competitors being a single title win away.
To become a Grand Slam winner by WWE’s official modern rules, wrestlers need to win each of the following:
– Intercontinental Championship
– United States Championship
– Either the WWE Tag Team Championship or the World Tag Team Championship (or any iteration in either lineage)
– Either the World Heavyweight Championship or the Undisputed WWE Championship (or any iteration in either lineage).
Here are six WWE stars who are one championship away from winning the Grand Slam.
Jey Uso
Jey Uso is one of the most decorated wrestlers in WWE today, with his number of title wins firmly in the double digits.
Main Event Jey is recognised as an 11-time tag team champion, holding gold with Jimmy Uso and Cody Rhodes respectively.
In the singles division, Jey Uso held the Intercontinental Championship for 27 recognised days, defeating Bron Breakker for the gold in September 2024, and losing the title back to him the following month.
Also having held the World Heavyweight Championship for 51 days after defeating GUNTHER at WrestleMania 41, Jey just needs to win the US Title to be part of one of WWE’s most exclusive clubs.
Shinsuke Nakamura
Shinsuke Nakamura also has an impressive WWE resume, with the championship he has held the most being the one which has eluded Jey Uso, the US Title.
Nakamura has held the US Championship on three separate occasions, most recently holding the gold for 97 days from November 2024 to March 2025. He has also held the Intercontinental Championship twice, with title wins in July 2019 and August 2021 respectively.
With the King of Strong Style now teaming with Kyoki, it can be easy to forget that Nakamura held the SmackDown Tag Team Championship (same lineage as the current WWE Tag Team Championship) with Cesaro in 2020.
Winning a world title would have even more significance than usual for Shinsuke Nakamura, as it would make him an official Grand Slam winner.
Damian Priest
The World Heavyweight Championship hasn’t eluded Damian Priest, however, who cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 40 to win Raw’s top title.
This wasn’t Priest’s first main roster singles title run, with the star holding the US Championship for 191 days following his title victory in August 2021.
While not currently on the best terms with either, Priest previously held tag team gold with Finn Balor and R-Truth.
If Priest wants to become a Grand Slam winner, he needs to win the Intercontinental Championship.
Drew McIntyre
Meanwhile, Drew McIntyre held the Intercontinental Title during his previous run with the company, dropping the title in May 2010 after 160 recognised days as champ.
McIntyre is a four-time WWE world champion, having held the World Heavyweight Title once – for minutes before Damian Priest’s cash-in at WrestleMania 40 – and the Undisputed WWE Championship three times, most recently for 55 days earlier this year.
The Scottish Warrior has had tag title runs with both Cody Rhodes and Dolph Ziggler over the years, holding previous iterations of what is now the World Tag Team Championship.
Like Jey Uso, Drew McIntyre also needs a US Championship reign to complete his Grand Slam collection.
Cody Rhodes
Between Cody Rhodes’ two WWE runs, it feels like he has done everything there is to do in the company, but there is one more box he needs to check to complete the Grand Slam.
Rhodes famously finished his story with an Undisputed WWE Championship win at WrestleMania 40, and went on to hold the title two more times following this reign.
The American Nightmare has also held tag-team gold with several tag partners, including Jey Uso, Drew McIntyre, and his brother, Goldust (Dustin Rhodes).
Having held the Intercontinental Championship twice, Rhodes completes the trifecta of stars on this list who are one United States Championship away from the Grand Slam.
Matt Cardona
Following his official return to the company in January, Matt Cardona made it clear that one of his reasons for returning was to win the Undisputed WWE Championship.
If Cardona does become WWE Champion, he will also be a Grand Slam winner. As “Zack Ryder”, Cardona held the US Championship for 28 days between December 2011 and January 2012.
He has held two previous iterations of the World Tag Team Championship with Curt Hawkins, with the duo most recently winning the Raw Tag Team Title at WrestleMania 35 in 2019.
Famously, Matt Cardona won the Intercontinental Championship in a ladder match at WrestleMania 32. This is possibly Cardona’s career highlight, although a world title win would be even bigger, especially as it would make him a Grand Slam winner.
