Now in his third reign as Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes has reached 100 days since winning the title on March 6 of this year.
With Drew McIntyre having held the Undisputed WWE Championship since the January 9 episode of SmackDown, his own third title reign would come to an end just 55 days later with a loss to Cody Rhodes.
The official WWE.com page for the title with a history dating back to the 1960s confirms that Rhodes has reached the 100-day milestone, being the sixteenth champion in the decade to date.
Rhodes first held the title in April 2024, defeating Roman Reigns in a Bloodline Rules Match at WrestleMania 40 Night 2, and remaining champion for 378 days until his loss to John Cena at the flagship PLE the following year.
SummerSlam in August 2025 would see Rhodes re-capture the championship from Cena in a Street Fight, leading to a 159 day reign that ended with the loss to Drew McIntyre in January.
Having retained the title at Clash in Italy on May 31, Rhodes is set to face GUNTHER once again on this week’s SmackDown, with Sami Zayn serving as guest referee.
Finishing The Never-Ending Story
Much of the buildup to WrestleMania 40 in 2024 revolved around Cody Rhodes wanting to “finish the story” by doing what his father, the legendary Dusty Rhodes, had been unable to do by capturing a world championship in WWE.
With that story very much finished, there was more to be told and Rhodes would secure two more top title reigns, with his current run still ongoing.
It’s not a particular surprise, given the popularity of Rhodes and how easily he has adapted to representing the company that he returned to in April 2022, having spent the years since his WWE release in 2016 on the independent scene, including in NJPW, before being a fundamental part of the inception and evolution of AEW.
Time and again, Cody Rhodes has demonstrated that, beyond being a top WWE star, he is a consummate businessman, with his Wheatley Vodka partnership being just one example of the broadening of his wings.
Beyond this, Rhodes continues to carve out a big-screen career, starring in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie, based on the popular and long-running video game franchise.
It’s difficult to see a future where Rhodes doesn’t hold a top title in the WWE, although it’s equally as conceivable that his future will see a dialing down on his full-time status as he explores more opportunities to represent the company and forge his own future when it comes to business interests.
