Potential New AAA signings: Which talent could WWE bring to Mexico after Triplemania 34?

With AAA Triplemania 34 set to conclude tonight (September 13), it’s worth taking a look at what WWE’s plans may look like for the brand after this weekend.

Several new champions may be crowned, and with that will come the need for some new challengers and talent throughout the promotion.

Here are three potential new AAA signings we could see after Triplemania 34.

Richard Holliday

For months now, Richard Holliday’s name has been linked with a move to WWE after he underwent a tryout with the company back in February.

Holliday would then add fuel to the fire when he seemingly said his goodbyes to GCW back in July, however, he has continued wrestling on the independent seven since then.

While the former MLW star has been having some fun with all the speculation about his future, WWE were said to be interested in his signature, so it’s a situation worth keeping a close eye on.

WWE NXT would seem like the natural starting point for Holliday, however, with several new faces such as Zilla Fatu and Cruz Montana showing up on Tuesday nights, WWE could instead debut the 33-year-old in AAA, where he could become an immediate contender for championship gold.

Elijah Holyfield

One WWE name already confirmed to be AAA bound is Elijah Holyfield.

The son of legendary boxing heavyweight Evander Holyfield has been working away in WWE’s developmental system for the past two years, and has appeared as a regular contestant on WWE LFG, as well as NXT live events and WWE Evolve broadcasts.

It was during a recent episode of WWE LFG that Shawn Michaels informed Holyfield that he would be joining the AAA roster and working with the brand’s head of creative The Undertaker.

The first AAA on FOX show post-Triplemania 34 would be a great time to introduce him, and with Los Perros del Mal down a member after ditching Bronco Nima, perhaps Holyfield could fill that gap?

Anthony Bowens

While he may seem like a random choice, AEW’s Anthony Bowens is another potential soon-to-be free agent that has been linked with a move to WWE in the near future.

The former AEW World Tag Team & Trios Champion’s contract is reportedly due to expire in October, and WWE are said to have “at least some” interest in bringing him into the company.

Again, NXT would be the likelier landing spot for Bowens if he was to sign with WWE, but AAA shouldn’t be ruled out as a potential destination either.

Bowens has plenty of untapped potential and in AAA he would have perhaps the best environment to get his WWE career off on the right foot. AAA has proven to be one of, if not the, most consistently entertaining WWE shows, so it should only be seen as a positive if more new signings begin their WWE journey in Mexico before moving on to NXT, Raw or SmackDown.
