In the weeks leading up to WWE Night of Champions 2026, there have been several different matches that have been teased or speculated on.

With the premium live event’s title name, many fans believed there might be a card filled with championship matches to go along with the King and Queen of the Ring finals.

From title bouts to an alternate direction for the conclusion of the tournaments, WWE Night of Champions could have looked a little different with these canceled matches.

Here are six potential WWE Night of Champions 2026 matches that ended up not taking place.

6. The Vision vs. Street Profits – WWE World Tag Team Championship

The Street Profits have held the NXT Tag Team Championship, Raw Tag Team Championship, SmackDown Tag Team Championship, WWE Tag Team Championship and now the World Tag Team Championship

At the May 23 edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, The Vision’s Logan Paul and Austin Theory defeated The Street Profits to retain the WWE World Tag Team Championship.

During the course of the match, Paul suffered a torn triceps injury and has been sidelined since then. This led to Theory taking out Angelo Dawkins for a number of weeks.

After Bron Breakker took Paul’s place and Dawkins made his return, The Street Profits finally defeated The Vision to win the World Tag Team Title on the June 22 edition of Monday Night Raw.

Thanks to this victory and Breakker being set to face Seth Rollins in a Steel Cage match, fans will not be seeing a World Tag Team Championship match on the WWE Night of Champions 2026 PLE.

5. Trick Williams vs. Ricky Saints vs. Carmelo Hayes – United States Championship

Trick Williams, Ricky Saints and Carmelo Hayes are all former North American and NXT Champions

At WWE WrestleMania 42 night two, Trick Williams defeated Sami Zayn to win the United States Championship.

Since picking up the win, the likes of Carmelo Hayes and Ricky Saints have been gunning for Trick’s gold.

For weeks, it looked to be setting up a triple threat match between Williams, Hayes and Saints for the US Title at WWE Night of Champions 2026.

However, Saints defeated Melo in a number one contenders match on the June 19 episode of Friday Night SmackDown to earn his shot at Trick in Riyadh one-on-one instead.

4. Charlotte Flair vs. Jade Cargill

Charlotte Flair recently defeated Jade Cargill, Sol Ruca and Lyra Valkyria in a Queen of the Ring tournament match

At WWE Clash In Italy 2026, Rhea Ripley defeated Jade Cargill to retain the WWE Women’s Championship.

This victory came thanks to a timely assist from Charlotte Flair who fought off interference from Michin and B-Fab, while also placing Ripley’s foot on the rope after a Jade pinfall.

This led to Jade, Michin and B-Fab attacking Charlotte backstage after Clash In Italy and then again before her King of the Ring semi-final match against Liv Morgan on the June 19 SmackDown.

Despite these recent attacks and confrontations, fans will have to wait until after WWE Night of Champions 2026 to see Charlotte get her revenge as Jade will challenge Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women’s United States Championship on the show.

3. Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa – World Heavyweight Championship

Roman Reigns defeated Solo Sikoa on the WWE Raw on Netflix premiere in January 2025 to confirm his status as the Tribal Chief

Roman Reigns has reformed The Bloodline after reuniting with The Usos and bringing in Jacob Fatu following his loss in Tribal Combat at WWE Clash In Italy 2026.

After Tribal Combat, Solo Sikoa and The MFTs made a surprising appearance in the crowd to watch the aftermath of this bout.

Since then, Roman has sent Fatu to Friday Night SmackDown to request Sikoa come home to The Bloodline. This has led to some disagreements and differences within Solo’s own group, The MFTs.

With all these storyline developments heading into the show, it is interesting to see Reigns not defend his World Heavyweight Championship against his cousin on the WWE Night of Champions 2026 card.

2. Roman Reigns vs. LA Knight – World Heavyweight Championship

Roman Reigns retained the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against LA Knight at Crown Jewel 2023

Speaking of a World Heavyweight Championship match that could have taken place on this event, LA Knight has found himself right in the middle of The Bloodline drama.

Knight has become the number one disparager of The Bloodline despite creating a bond with The Usos prior to their reunion with Roman Reigns.

Not wanting to see WWE become dominated by Reigns and his family again, ‘The Megastar’ has taken shots verbally and physically with Jimmy and Jey.

This seemed to be sowing the seeds for a showdown between Reigns and Knight to many fans, but it looks to be postponed until after WWE Night of Champions in Riyadh.

1. Oba Femi vs. Seth Rollins – King of the Ring Final

Seth Rollins held the NXT Championship 13 years before Oba Femi held the same title

Heading into WWE Night of Champions 2026, there has been plenty of focus on the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments.

Leading up to the start of the tournament, there were reportedly two favorites for King of the Ring, which were Seth Rollins and Oba Femi.

However, Je’Von Evans defeated Ricky Saints, Talla Tonga and Seth Rollins to advance to the King of the Ring semi-final thanks to interference from Bron Breakker and Austin Theory of The Vision.

It seems WWE wanted to save a future bout between Femi and Rollins for a bigger show after the Night of Champions 2026 premium live event.
