UPDATE: Several new additions to the Forbidden Door card were announced tonight, including The Elite’s partner – for the full updated card, click here.
On tonight’s June 21 AEW Dynamite, a major match was added to the upcoming pay-per-view, AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023.
In a backstage segment, Jon Moxley challenged the Elite to a five on five battle against The Blackpool Combat Club (Mox, Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli) with Konosuke Takeshita and NJPW star, Shota Umino.
We’ll have to find out if the Elite accept and moreover, who else they plan to add to their squad to make it even odds ahead of Saturday’s pay-per-view, AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
Of course Kenny Omega is ruled out as he has a match against Will Ospreay (the same reason Bryan Danielson isn’t on the BCC team due to his match with Kazuchika Okada), so the Elite’s team will likely consist of the Young Bucks, Hangman Page, Eddie Kingston, and someone else.
Elsewhere on tonight’s show, an appearance in front of the Chicago live crowd by CM Punk.
Punk ran out to even the odds after Bullet Club Gold had joined with the Gunns in a brawl against Ricky Starks and FTR.
This set up a match for Collision this coming Saturday with Punk, FTR and Starks taking on Bullet Club Gold and the Gunns.
Still to come for the show, a three on three match pitting Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara and Minoru Suzuki against AR Fox, Action Andretti and Darius Martin.
