Ron Hutchison, the trainer of Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, reached out with a message of support following their AEW Dynamite match.

The pair faced each other in an I Quit match for the AEW TNT Championship on the March 20 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Highlights from the match in which Copeland would become a two-time TNT Champion can be seen below this news story.

Having trained both men in the 90s, Ron Hutchison commented on both men after their main event match, tweeting:

“So, about last night. The boys? They survived. I think.@RatedRCope,@Christian4Peeps

“I hope that you are both proud of your efforts last night. I’m beyond proud. Toronto’s proud and, most importantly, wrestling is proud!

“On behalf of wrestling fans everywhere thank you both!”

Hutchison would begin training as a wrestler at the age of 17 in 1981 at Sully’s Gym in Toronto and would perform on the independent circuit as well as in WWF in the mid-80s.

Hutchison would become an instructor at Sully’s Gym and go on to open the Sweet Daddy Siki and Ron Hutchison’s School of Wrestling.

The school would go on to train a number of WWE and NWA: TNA stars, including Copeland and Cage.

In January 2024, Copeland revealed why he thinks Christian Cage is a good heel.

He had previously commented on Cage being a star “without restraints” in his AEW run.

Copeland was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2012 and would remain in the company until his departure in September 2023.

He made his AEW debut at the October 1, 2023, WrestleDream PPV, reuniting him with Cage who had joined the company in March 2021.
