AEW star Adam Copeland has reflected on his final match with WWE, one year on from his last TV appearance for the company.
Copeland’s jump from WWE to AEW was pretty quick, with the Rated R Superstar appearang at the October 1, 2023 WrestleDream premium live event, one day after his WWE contract officially expired.
Prior to this, it had been heavily speculated that Copeland was leaving WWE, with the former “Edge” having a big WWE TV match amid uncertainty about his in-ring future.
On the August 18, 2023 edition of SmackDown, Copeland defeated his real-life friend Sheamus in singles action.
One year on, Copeland has taken to Instagram to reflect on this match. Sharing a photo of him hugging Sheamus, and another photo of him and Sheamus drinking together after the show, Copeland captioned the post:
Cheers Fella @wwesheamus
Copeland has had an eventful year since August 2023, notably holding the AEW TNT Championship twice.
He was forced to relinquish the gold in May after suffering a fractured tibia at Double or Nothing.
