AEW Star Describes Current Backstage Morale

AEW star Wheeler Yuta has commented on the backstage morale within the company following previous reports about ‘divisiveness’.

While previously speaking with POST Wrestling, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer indicated that there was a lot ‘divisiveness’ backstage after CM Punk’s AEW return on the June 17 edition of Collision, and after Punk’s the ESPN interview that released before Collision, and that things were at a pretty bad point” again.

Several AEW names responded to this report, addressing rumors about the AEW locker-room.

In a new interview with SEScoops, Wheeler Yuta stated that the general feeling backstage is excitement, with AEW’s big summer plans.

Noting that there’s a sense of optimism backstage, Yuta said:

“I’m the kind of person who likes to keep to myself and do my own thing and focus on what I’m doing. But the general vibe for myself and everyone is just excitement.

“We know we have these huge events coming up. We just came from Forbidden Door, which was an incredible show.

“We are going to Wembley Stadium. We have All In, All Out, and so many great things. We have a Fight Forever video game.

“It’s exciting to see all these things we really have been working toward and hoping for coming to fruition.

“There is an air of optimism that wants to continue to grow and be successful.”

Yuta is set to face Kenny Omega on the July 5 edition of AEW Dynamite.

He last wrestled at AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door, teaming with Claudio Castagnoli, Jon Moxley, Konosuke Takeshita & Shota Umino in a losing effort against Adam Page, Eddie Kingston, Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson & Tomohiro Ishii.

At the same event, Kenny Omega dropped his IWGP US Championship to Will Ospreay in a match of the year contender.
