Which Brand Multiple Top AEW Stars Will Be On After Brand Split Revealed AEW

WWE aren’t the only company doing a brand split and a top AEW star’s fate has now been reportedly revealed.

With Tony Khan reportedly conducting a brand split of his own to spread his roster across his TV products, including the upcoming Saturday show, we’ve now got details of where some of the top stars will land.

It had previously been reported that AEW Dynamite would feature The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks) and Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli), with the Saturday show being headed up by a returning CM Punk.

Dave Meltzer has now provided further details in the current Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), writing:

“The Saturday crew will be headed by Punk and FTR and the Wednesday crew by The Elite and BCC.

“There have been rumors of Chris Jericho on Saturday because Punk in particular will need a strong opponent. That could be why the meeting was arranged with Jericho.”

It was recently reported that a meeting took place between Chris Jericho and CM Punk as a pre-cursor to Punk’s AEW return. The meeting was said to have “gone well”, but there are no further details beyond that.

The new Saturday show is expected to debut in Punk’s hometown of Chicago on June 17, potentially announced a month earlier at the Warner Media upfront.

It’ll air 8pm-10pm ET on TNT Saturday nights with the idea of being on the same level as AEW Dynamite.

There will naturally be a lot pre-emptions due to clashes with other sports on the Saturday nights, but that’s the overall plan.

CM Punk recently once again made headlines during a short appearance backstage at WWE Raw.
